Featured Friday: And so it gose...
-10pts for lameness in title. #sorrynotsorry
Total photo cred goes to this dude.
Guys, I want to talk to you about this magnificent style of beer called gose. I think it's the perfect bridge beer between Summer and Fall because it's light, tart, and sometimes a little bit salty and I love all of those things.
The first time the words "sour beer" were uttered in my presence, I was really taken aback. My beer should NOT taste like sour patch kids, I insisted. Go back to the weird-beer-hole you came from, sour beer lovers!
Then I had a radler; a delicious, half beer half citrus soda drink and thought, okay, not bad. But those had decidedly citrusy notes (for obvious reasons) which I liked and was familiar with. So still I asked... SOUR BEERS?!
Then, I tried a gose. I was sold. Not SUPER tart, and not sweet pretty much at all. And not weird.
This dude I hang out with a lot who is crazy into beer purchased a six-pack of this awesome Anderson Valley Gose, amazingly titled "The Kimmie, The Yink, and the Holy Gose Ale" in this awesome purple can. It was demolished. It went with every fish dish we consumed this week. I can't recommend it enough.
Have one for me this weekend!
PS: If you're like me, and thought to yourself da fuq is a Kimmie or a Yink?! you should check out Anderson Valley's commitment to keeping Boontling alive. Is it too late to become a linguist?
