This tasty Braised Pork Shoulder recipe will teach you how to braise. Slow cooking makes meat that is tender, juicy, and full of flavor.
Ingredients: 3 lbs pork shoulder, bone-in. Salt and black pepper to taste. 2 tbsp vegetable oil. 1 large onion, chopped. 3 carrots, peeled and sliced. 4 cloves garlic, minced. 2 cups chicken or beef broth. 1 cup red wine. 2 sprigs fresh rosemary. 3 sprigs fresh thyme. 2 bay leaves. 1 can 14 oz diced tomatoes. 1/4 cup tomato paste.
Instructions: Set the oven to 325F 163C before you start cooking. Add salt and black pepper to the pork shoulder. Put vegetable oil in a big pot that can go in the oven and heat it over medium-high heat. Put the pork shoulder in and cook it all over. Take it out and set it aside. Put chopped onion, sliced carrots, and minced garlic in the same pot. Cook the vegetables in oil until they get soft. Add red wine to the pot and scrape up any browned food on the bottom. You can use chicken or beef broth. Then add the browned pork shoulder, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, rosemary, thyme, bay leaves, and any other herbs you want. Once the liquid starts to simmer, cover the pot and put it in an oven that is already hot. Bake the pork for three to five hours, or until it falls apart when you cut it with a fork. Take the pork out of the oven, throw away the herbs, and use two forks to shred it. The braised pork shoulder should be served hot. This braised pork shoulder is juicy and full of flavor. Serve it with your favorite side dishes.

Once done, remove the pot from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Slice the pork loin, spoon some of the braising liquid and vegetables over the top, and serve.
