Mum cooked a couple of Threadfin Steaks (ει±Ό) with leeks and minced pork. This premium fish π is expensive to buy so we seldom cook it, but it is incredibly tender, melt-in-your-mouth texture with a mild, sweet, and naturally rich flavour. The second dish for dinner is Braised Pork Belly π (ε€δΊθ±θ) with egg π₯ and shiitake mushrooms. I drizzled some of the gravy over the steamed rice, took this picture and dug in.

found this place by chance when passing by, and my friend said itβs a very popular taiwanese noodle store, so we decided to give it a try. the place has 2 floors, but the first floor has very limited seats, most customer would be seated upstairs, which has a really simple but nice interior with wood and bamboo materials.
ordered the noodles with minced meat and pork balls soup, minced pork rice with braised tofu and cabbage, and croquette. got their cold brew tea for drinks, which is bottled so you can take it with you instead of finishing on the spot.
the noodles and soup can be refilled once if you are not full, so itβs great for big eaters. the texture is bouncy and minced pork is flavorful so they compliment each other, same goes for the rice. side dishes also increase variety of food which makes the whole meal more appetizing.
the food is very enjoyable and does suit my taste well, definitely could see why this store is popular and have many branches around. itβs really comfortable and enjoyable, and the pricing is also reasonable with good service from the staff. definitely visiting again to try other food items as they seem to always have seasonal items as well.
Todayβs Economy Rice (θι₯) brunch comes with bitter gourd π₯ & pork ribs π stir-fry, a braised egg π₯ and preserved mustard greens with pork belly (ζ’ θζ£θ). Every time mum cooked this dish, she will need to rinse off the excess salt or the mustard greens π₯¬ will be too salty. There is also preserved sweet mustard greens (ηζ’ θ) which is the sweet version, but mum never buy this type before.
Chwee Kueh (ζ°΄η²Ώ) is a popular Teochew-style steamed rice cake dish, particularly beloved in Singapore. During the 19th century, many Teochew people moved to Singapore, bringing their culinary expertise with them. Today, chwee kueh is a popular breakfast item in Singapore πΈπ¬, served in many of its hawker centres and it is commonly associated with Singaporean cuisine. It consists of soft, steamed rice cakes topped with savoury chai poh (θθ―) or preserved radish π₯ and often served with chilli πΆ sauce.
Brunch is a takeaway pack of Roasted Chicken Rice ππ (η§ιΈ‘ι₯). Mum asked for the fried chicken drumstick π. Yes, you heard it right, roasted chicken in Malaysia π²πΎ and Singapore πΈπ¬ typically referred to this type of fried chicken. There are also some sliced Taiwan Sausage (ε°ζΉΎι¦θ ) and a Braised Egg π₯ (ε€θ) garnished with cucumber π₯ slices. Not shown but accompanying the takeaway is a pack of zesty and garlicy chilli sauce which is a must when having chicken rice.
Mum gotten this takeaway pack of Braised Duck Rice (ε€ιΈι₯) for me from Chong Pang. The seller deboned the duck drumstick but left the bone in the pack so the customer knows they are getting the real thing. There are also Braised Bean Curd & Egg (ε€θ±θ /ε€θ) to go with the braised rice. Sliced cucumbers π₯ and a scoop of sambal chilli πΆ paste come with the pack.

Mumβs home-cooked meal of Asparagus Stir-Fry with prawns π¦, minced pork and tomato π wedges. Also on the menu is Braised Pork Belly (ε€ηͺθ) with shiitake mushrooms πβπ« and egg π₯. Carbs is the usual steamed white rice popular in Southeast Asian countries.
Beside my pack of Economy Rice (θι₯), mum also bought three Braised Eggs to share. I took an egg π₯ to go with my pack of rice which already had cabbage π₯¬ stir-fry, preserved Chinese mustard greens & pork stew plus curry chicken in it.
Mum went to the hairdresser πββοΈ in the morning to get her hair done so by the time she came home with my takeaway Economy Rice (θι₯), my usual brunch became lunch. I am not complaining because we usually have some breads at home so I will eat those in the meantime. Mum bought sweet & sour pork π and also sweet & sour fish π to go with the cabbage π₯¬, black fungus & bean curd puff stir-fry and braised egg. π₯
