A Conversation with Myself About the Box
box1
a container with a flat base and sides, typically square or rectangular and having a lid. e.g. “a cigarette box”
Going off this definition, technically my room is a box. So I created this idea, that I attach a camera to my ceiling and have it record during different times of day and such. Technically, anything that is enclosed can be a box (e.g. I can attach it to a train and it technically is my box for that moment in time.)
By turning my room into the box I open my privacy and have a look into my personal ‘box’. When we stay in our room we stay in our boxes, we feel safe and secure; which then poses the question will I act different if I am being recorded in my box? The experiment here is that I will try and record different times of day and then moving on from there try and branch out until i get different rooms and such.
This concept takes on a very ‘big brother’ or ‘reality show’-esque type of vibe towards it. I think the main point i’m trying to get at here is that being in our own boxes we tend to be comfortable, so I want to try and see if I can feel uncomfortable and see how this would work with other people if they viewed my life like this.
The image above is the first connection of the room from a birds eye view and will soon connect with other views.
