#borrowbox

So this is me advocating for you to go to a local library and see if they have an app like borrowbox to listen to this book because HOLY SHIT. Its good. Its really good.

Literally all I needed was my library id (free) and the name of my local library.

I'm UK so it may be different where you are (I believe libby is another app for US folks? Not too sure) so call your local library and ask em if they rent out audiobooks!! I cannot recommend it enough if you liked the movie so far, I'm really enjoying it. That said they also had the ebook too, so there's options!

The Lord of the Rings : The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien 

This audio book, read brilliantly by Andy Serkis is a wonderful way to. discover the book in full.  I read The Hobbit many years ago and then saw the Peter Jackson film trilogy but realised I had never actually read the book.  

For me, the ‘songs’ are a bit tedious and overlong but apparently a lot of people really like these, but that’s my niggle.

Looking forward to Book 2.

A digital library, to be exact, called Borrowbox! They are a library of Ebook and Audiobooks and they have purchased a copy of Changeling for their app.

I'm super excited. I might have squealed when I got the email about the purchase... but what does this mean for you?

I've seen lots of posts promoting Libby and Overdrive as a free kindle alternative to support their local libraries, which is great but very US centric.

You can sign into BorrowBox through your local library and get ebooks and audiobooks. It's available in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Singapore and Malaysia.

Whilst on placement, my mentor suggested I get this app. It connects to the local library and allows you to “borrow” books. This app gives you access to a book or audiobook on your device for convenience and provides a digital experience for libraries.

The Lord of the Rings : The Two Towers by J.R.R. Tolkien

Oh my god, what a cliff-hanger this one ends on. I’m going to have to start the next one straight away!

Having not finished the audio of The Fellowship of the Ring long ago - https://www.tumblr.com/joebloggshere/788317368489263104/the-lord-of-the-rings-the-fellowship-of-the-ring - I went fairly straight on to this one.

As a not particular Ringer or Tolkienist up to now, I can see how one gets hooked. Again I must praise Andy Sirkis’ reading. At times you forget it is just one voice and think you are listening to a dramatisation.

Anyway, on to The Return of the King and then I’ll do a round-up post probably of all three books, (or rather of the one book!).
