mi amor perfecta 😮💨🥰
… Penny for your thoughts on the deluxe? 😮💨👀
Cultural Pride
For one of my classes, Our Professor told everyone to share a societal norm, and because I liked what I wrote, I'm sharing it here
I have noticed is typical of the societal norm in terms of cultural pride for Puerto Ricans when compared to United States pride. Within all my family and other Puerto Rican families I've met, Pride is generally a huge thing; it's emotional, it's tied to your heritage, your history, and survival. Pride in my culture stems from preserving my identity even after everything, despite colonisation, migration, and cultural blending. This lies extremely true, specifically with the indigenous Taino people. The celebrations on the island symbolise unity and belonging, with parades, music, food, and our flag. Pride is one of the biggest societal norms, I have to mention, because our pride truly consumes us, and I don't mean it in a bad way. I need to mention a traditional dance, bomba! Bomba is used to express a wide range of emotions, to celebrate community, and is a powerful tool for cultural resistance and reclamation. Puerto Rican pride, the emotional intensity, truly, it consumes our culture, and if you're Puerto Rican, you're really expected to have pride in that. My entire family are loud and proud of their heritage, we dance, we celebrate, its a reminder to specifically my family of taino boriquens, that no matter how many times our culture was colonized and migrated, gutted and discard, that our cultural is still here, that with our taino side, we aren't extinct, we are loud and our blood bleeds red and that is cause for celebration.
