BoRhap!Roger x readerÂ
Summary: The Reader and Roger have been a couple since they were sixteen. But what would happen to their relationship now that Rogerâs dream of being a rock star is becoming reality?
A/N: I know, I know youâre all waiting for the new chap of Scandalous. But I had this fic in my mind for a while and I really wanted to write it down. The story will be characterised by flashbacks about their relationship to show how it evolved. I know that some times years wonât coincide, sorry for that.
I wrote it having BoRhap!Roger in mind but it also works with real Roger Taylor
And sorry for any grammar error, English is not my first language.
I really hope you like it and donât be afraid to let me know what you think!
Have a nice day xx

March 1971
âGood morning pretty faceâ you said walking inside the biology lab. It was empty except for your boyfriend Roger who was picking his stuff scattered on the desk at the end of the room. As a usual Wednesday morning, you both had early morning classes which meant that you couldnât see each other before going to the university, so as a ritual you would go to the lab after your photography class and you would find Roger there waiting for you. âHow was your class?â he asked putting his last book in his backpack âJust as any other Wednesday but still interestingâ you replied as you sat on the desk âWhat about yours?â your legs were swinging back and forth as you looked at your boyfriend. âBoring, as alwaysâ he walked to you, his hands on your bare tight as he made you open your legs so that he could move closer to you and kiss softly your lips. âThe only thing I was caring about was that you would have been here at the end of the lessonâ You sighed softly âRog, you need to pay attention during classes, this is our last year.â He always said that what he wanted to do in life was music and was sure that now more than ever he was close to achieving his dream. But he was already sure that he would have made it with Smile and then Tim left them. Now he was in Queen, they were good but still had problems with finding a new bassist, and even though you really wanted to be supportive about his dream, at the same time you wanted him to focus a bit more on university just to be sure that if it didnât work with music at least he had a backup plan. âWe are going to hear this new kid today, he plays the bass and I have a feeling he might be the right one.â You chuckled seeing his facial expression, full of hope.
âHave I already told you how hot you look in this skirt?â he suddenly changed the topic as his hands moved back to your tights. âRogâ you tried to stop him as you already knew what he had in mind, and your thoughts were confirmed as his lips started to leave wet kisses on your neck. âRog, weâre in the university lab, anyone could walk in at any moment.â
âDo you see someone?â he asks with an ironic tone as his finger started to unbutton your blouse. âOnly boring people come here to spend their time.â His lips were travelling down your now naked torso.
âStill they could come nowâ You bit your lower lip closing your eyes and running your hand through his hair.
âBoring people now are attending other classesâ He was down on his knees, his lips on your tights and you tilted your head back, Roger smirked at your reaction. âWe both know you want this as much as I do, Pennyâ and his head disappeared in your skirt.
You were on your way back home to your house, riding through Truroâs street with your bike when the bike chain decided to fall off, cursing you got off from the saddle and sat on the ground trying to figure out how to fix it. After five minutes of cursing, someone approached you âDo you need help with that?â you lift your gaze up and your heart stopped, it was Roger Taylor. He was sixteen just like you and went to the same school as yours, but life was always a bitch and he was in a different class. It wasnât necessary to say that every girl in the school had a crush on him, even the older ones. âI-I yes...I donât know how to fix this damn thingâ you stuttered, the young boy chuckled and kneeled down and you moved to let him the space to work. âWe go to the same school, donât we?â he asked as he focused on the chain. âHmhâ you simply replied as your eyes focused on his hands. âHere you are, all fixedâ he said getting up and rubbing his hands trying to get the chain grass away. âNice recordâ he said nodding toward The Who vinyl in your bike basket. âYeah, I just got it at the record shop.â You replied putting your hands in your skinny jeans pocket. âThe one down the street? Thatâs the coolest one.â
âItâs actually my dadâs shop.â
âNo way.â His eyes widened. âI always go there, how come I never saw you in the shop?â
âBecause Iâm always on the back listening to the new records.â
âMakes senseâ he chuckled âIâm Roger by the way.â He reached his hand out but seeing how dirty it was he quickly took it away. âIâm Pennyâ you smiled at him. âPenny? Is that your real name?â He asked at the unusual name. âNoâ you shook your head chuckling. âIâm (Y/N), but almost everyone calls me by my nickname, Penny.â âHow come that nickname?â the boy giggled. "Find a penny, pick it up, and all the day you'll have good luck." You simply answered, just as if it was the most obvious thing, but you got a frown as an answer âI still donât get it.âÂ
âWhen I was four my dad took me with him to see a football match and his team won. He then took me another time and they won again so he started to think I was his good luck charm. Thatâs how the name Penny was bornâ Roger laughed looking at you. âWell, letâs hope that youâll bring luck also to me and I will be able to see you at the record shop next time Iâll come around.â
âYou see me every day at schoolâ you bit your lip.
âThen I guess you have no other solution than coming out on a date with me.â
You have to bite hard on your lip as you feel Rogerâs fingers on your clothed centre. âAlready so wetâ he wanted to sound sexy but you couldnât help but laugh âWhatâs so funny?â he asked as his head popped out from your skirt. âNothing, just get back down thereâ you grinned as your hand went back through his hair pushing him gently back down. âSomeone is impatient hereâ he smirked as he took your knickers off and his head disappeared once again between your legs, once you felt his tongue on your wet folds you had to put your hand over your mouth to keep your moans quiet.
âHappy anniversary loveâ a seventeen years old Roger looked down at you. Your naked bodies tangled together on your small one sized bed âAre you implying that this was your anniversary present?â you frowned as your fingerprints drew some circles on his chest. âWhat? This was an amazing shag, arenât you happy with your present?â he grinned not taking away his gaze from you. You pretended to be offended and slapped softly his chest âHey, hey calm down ladyâ Roger chuckled as he got up from the bed earning a whine from you âI thought you wanted your presentâ a big smile appeared on your lips âYou really got me a present?â âWhich kind of boyfriend would I be if I didnât?â he said as he looked for his trousers, you sat on the bed covering your naked breast with the bed sheet and bit your lip while looking at Rogerâs naked figure walking around your room. âHere it isâ he walked back to the bed giving you a small package. You took it smiling widely and, as you started to unwrap it, Roger sat behind you laying his chin on your shoulder. Once you took all the paper off you found a black box which once you opened revealed a necklace with a circular pendant with yours and Rogerâs name initials engraved on it. âDo you like it?â You nodded âI love itâ you could feel his smile against your bare skin âMay I?â he asked and you let him take the necklace, your hands went to your hair holding them in a ponytail as your boyfriend put the jewel around your neck.
âYou knowâ Roger said as you were cuddled, his hand running up and down your back as your head laid on his chest, your eyes looked up at his breathtaking blue ones. âI found a new meaning to Pennyâ âDid you?â you chuckled and he nodded proudly âA Penny for your thoughts.â âThat makes no sense Rogâ you had to hold a laugh. âIt does indeed. Because you are what I always think aboutâ
Your grip on the edge of the desk became tighter, your knuckles were almost white as you could feel you were getting closer to your climax. And as you were on the edge the door swung open. âHey Rogâ you immediately recognized the voice and even if your back was facing the door your hands went to your blouse quickly covering your exposed chest. âFuck Brian!â You almost screamed. âSorry, sorry⌠I didnât meanâ he started to stutter seeing the scene in front of him. âShouldnât you fucking knock?â you asked, still not facing him as you were buttoning up your blouse. âItâs a lab, I didnât expect to find this scene in front of me.â He was right. âIs Roger somewhere there?â he asked not being able to see the drummer. âIâm down here mateâ your boyfriend said as his head left your skirt and he stood up and smirked at Brian once he saw him. God, did that man had any decency? âRoger, we have to go and listen to the guy. Did you forgot?â
âNo, I was just a little busy here, but I would have shown up, donât worry dad.â Roger chuckled while looking at Brian.
âCome on lover boy, get yourself in an acceptable look, Iâll be waiting outside in the car.â The guitarist told him while looking at his uncombed hair by your hands.
Once Brian left the room and closed the door you jumped down from the desk pushing down your skirt. âIâll go back home thenâ you said kneeling down to pick up your panties that laid on the floor but before you could reach them Roger stole them from you and put them in his pocket. âOh no lady, you are coming with me.â You groaned reaching for his pocket and taking your knickers. âCome on, Iâm a mess.â You pouted at him as you put back your underwear and when you looked up he was smirking âA hot mess thoughâ you closed your eyes as his lips left a kiss on your forehead. âWhy canât I wait for you at our flat so that when you come back home you can continue what you left unfinished?â
âI mean, do you see yourself still living here in ten years? Because I donât. I donât want to end up working in my dadâs record shop while dreaming about being a photographerâ you watched the small rock you just threw on the river making some hops on the water surface. âYour dadâs shop is coolâ Roger said nonchalantly, you turned around and he was laid on the blanket while smoking, his hand supported his head as he was looking at you. âCome on Rogâ you groaned as you walked to him and laid on the cover by his side. âAre you really saying that you would find cool working at my dadâs shop for the rest of your life?â He smiled softly putting a lock of your hair behind your ear. âYou know how much I want to leave this place, Iâm not made for small towns, I have to make it big.â He chuckled blowing out some smoke, âI donât knowâ you said reaching for the cigarette packet. âItâs justâ you stopped as you lite up the cigarette that was between your lips. âItâs just that we are at our last year of high school, we should do something about our future and  sometimes I feel like I will be stuck here forever.â You were looking up at the sky, thinking of what your life would be if youâd stay in Truro. âThen letâs go awayâ Rogerâs voice took you away from your thoughts and made you looked up at him. He was now sat up and his eyes never left yours. âLetâs go to London, letâs go study there. You will study to become a photographer and I, I think I will study to become a dentist, my parents keep saying itâs a good job.â He shrugged and you smiled as you sat up too, his arm around your waist pulling you to straddle his lap so you could face him. âLetâs go there, letâs move in together in London.â Words failed to come up from your mouth so you just nodded as tears were starting to form in your eyes. Roger kissed you as his hands laid on both sides of your neck and your hands found their way through his hair âWeâre going to live togetherâ you mumbled against his lips âWe areâ he confirmed smiling.
âHey Freddieâ you greeted as you got into Brianâs car. âHey Pennyâ he looked at you with a smirk on his lips, making you understand he knew exactly what you were doing in the lab, of course, Brian had talked. âHowâs Mary?â you asked while looking for your compact mirror and your lipstick in your bag. âSheâs good, she had to work today so she couldnât come to the rehearsals. âWell, we could swing by laterâ Rog said grinning, you knew about the guys going to Biba just to check the girls, that didnât make you jealous, yes, he was your boyfriend but neither of you were blind, you also checked hot guys with your friends. Still, that comment made him earn a light punch on his stomach âIs someone jealous here?â he laughed looking at you, you shook your head as you started to fix your red lipstick while looking at yourself in the small mirror you were holding in your other hand. Thatâs when you felt a hand moving up to your tight, smirking you looked at Roger with the corner of your eye, he was grinning as his hand moved dangerously to the hem of your skirt. âHey you two, not in my carâ Brian warned you looking at you through the rearview mirror, both you and Roger chuckled as the drummer put his hand down to your knee and you blew a kiss to Brian who shook his head and tried to hide a grin. He was the person you were more close to in the band, you met him when Roger auditioned for Smile and by everyoneâs surprise, you almost immediately became close friends. It wasnât hard for you to understand why people found your friendship unusual, he was always so calm, polite, he knew always how to behave in any situation and he was a nerd for astrophysics, while you, well, you were a feminine version of Roger.
âSo, me and Roger met the guy at the disco a few days ago. His nameâs John and he seems pretty shy, so behave. Okay Freddie?â he asked looking at the singer who nodded while getting off from the car.
âRoger? Penny?â
âHey!â you sounded almost offended âIâm always nice with people. Talk to Mr Taylor here, who likes to make comments about people teeth.â You chuckled taking all your stuff while joining the other members.
âYou can be pretty mean too.â Roger argued.
âOnly with people that annoy me, I still donât know this guy. Maybe I will like him, I mean, heâs a bassist, they say theyâre pretty good with their hands.â You grinned looking at Roger who rolled his eyes as the other two guys chuckled.
âWell,â the blonde said wrapping his arm around your waist so you could get closer to him and he could whisper in your ear. âDrummers are better at banging.â He smirked and slapped your bum as you got into the building.
âYou must be John.â Freddie said walking toward the guy who was sat by the door of a classroom.
âItâs meâ he nodded pulling his hand out so Fred could shake it.
âWell, Iâm Freddie, you already met Brian and Roger.â The guys nodded to him. âAnd sheâs Penny, sheâs Queenâs first groupieâ Freddie smiled looking at you.
âIâm (Y/N)â You said greeting him. âPenny is my surname, you can decide which name you like moreâ you chuckled. âAnd Iâm not a groupie, Iâm Rogerâs girlfriend.â
âYou come to every concert and you shag him after each of them. That makes you a groupieâ Freddie declared putting his arms on his hips.
âAnd I take him back to our home after every concert. That makes me his girlfriend.â
âCan we please stop arguing about our roles and listen to John, please?â Brian asked almost exhausted by your squabbles.
You sat down on the couch between Roger and Freddie, your fingers tapped against your tight while listening to John playing. There was a feeling inside you that made you think that they finally may have found their final bassist, there was something in him, the way he talked and how he behaved that made you believe he could be a perfect fit between the three of them. You could already imagine Rog, Fred and Bri arguing about a song and then John would have jumped in and clear the air.
âJohn, he seemed really good.â You said while opening the door of yours and Rogerâs shared flat. âI think heâs the one you may have been looking for.â
âHmmh.â Roger mumbled as he threw his jacket on the couch and laid down.
You sat down on your bed, which was a mattress laid on some pallets, and looked at Rog while you took your shoes off. Your flat wasnât really big, as you opened the main door there was a room big enough where you managed to create a living room and a bedroom, in another small room there was the kitchen with a small table where you could eat. The main problem was when the guys decided to show up for lunch or dinner and you all ended up eating on the couch and sat on the carpet, all gathered around the coffee table. And of course, in the flat, there was another room for the bathroom.
âYou donât seem so excited about him.â You said getting comfortable. âI really think heâs the best bassist you ever had, youâd better keep him.â
âAre you done talking about him? You havenât shut up about him since he left the building.
A smirk grew on your lips as you got up from the bed and walked toward the couch âIs someone jealous here?â you asked sitting on Rogerâs lap, straddling him so you could face him.
âOh, shut up.â He groaned rolling his eyes.Â
You chuckled softly, he always liked playing with you when it came to making you jealous. But that only time that you talked well about a guy he immediately acted like a child.
âThe man who always talks about the Biba girls is now envious over a bassist?â
âWell, why donât you go to ask him to use his fingers since bassists seem so good at him?â he muttered not even looking at you as he quoted what you told him before meeting John.
âI donât knowâ you shrugged as you laid your hands on his neck âI heard that drummers are better at banging.â You almost laughed at his behaviour changing so quick. Roger looked at you while biting his lip and in a matter of a few seconds you were already taken to the bed. Your sexual life with Roger could be divided into two moods: there was love and there was sex. There were times when you two needed to show the other how much you loved them, and it was slow, sweet nothings whispered while your bodies were closed, fingers intertwined and kissed all over your skin. Then there was sex, the one where you needed each other, Â it was rough, loud, there were hickeys and bruises and today it was like that.
The aftercare though was always equal, your head was on his chest and his arm was wrapped around your shoulders as his fingers drew some figures on your skin. You were still trying to catch your breath as you left some sweet kisses on his bare skin.
âYou know, after today I have a good feeling, I feel like this time itâs the right one.â Roger said while looking at the ceiling as his fingertips never left your skin. âAnd I promise you that once weâll make it I will buy us a nicer flat, one where our bed wonât be seen by anyone who will come inside.â He chuckled softly.
âI donât care where weâll live as long as long as I know that youâll always be next to me.â

âWhat do you mean youâre ânot going to make itâ?â Mary asked seriously. The cat in your lap jumped away as you sat up abruptly. ââNot going to make itâ? But itâs Christmas!â
You and Mary were huddled by the phone in her apartment for your routine post-show phone call. The boys had been touring for the past two months. And they had said, no, promised, that they would be back in time for Christmas.
Mary let out a heavy sigh and you got up to pour yourself more tea. You couldnât trust yourself to do much else when you were this frustrated. One of the other cats trotted after you.
âYeah, I understand,â She muttered. Maryâs fingers scratched at her forehead and she ran a hand down her face. âYouâll at least make it for New Yearâs, right?â
You put some of the cookies the two of you had baked earlier on a plate and carried your mug of hot tea back to your spot on the couch. You held out the plate of cookies to her and she plucked up a chocolate chip cookie with a nod of âthanks.â The two of you simultaneously bit into the pastries and slumped against the couch cushions. Another cat sat attentively watching you eat the cookie.
âFreddie,â Mary groaned. âItâs the holidays. You deserve a break as much as they do.â
You broke off a crumb of the cookie without chocolate and gave it to the cat sitting next to you. The two others immediately hopped up after it, now begging you for some as well when they had previously been indifferent to your existence.
âI know itâs important to you, love,â Mary switched the phone from one ear to the other. âI could care less about the money. But you know what I do care about?... Yes, you!â
Mary listened in silence for about a minute, mumbled out a âlove you, too,â and handed over the phone to you. You scooted yourself over, cats moving in tow as Mary moved on the other end. She gnawed at her thumb nail.
You werenât entirely sure what Roger was going to tell you that you didnât already know. He had missed your last birthday. He was going to miss Christmas. And he was going to miss New Year's too.
âHello,â you began. You picked at the polish on your finger, just wanting to hear his voice.
âHello, beautiful,â Rogerâs voice answered. âI miss you.â
Normally you would have smiled or joked around in response. That was how your relationship worked. But you were too upset to do that right now.
âI miss you too.â You answered. âHow was your show?â
âGood.â He chirped. âWanna know the bra count?â
âSure,â you laughed but it felt empty. Roger and you made a habit of keeping track of how many bras get thrown onstage during the show.
â6! It's a new record!â Roger joked cheerfully.
You hummed in response trying to sound equally as excited. But Roger knew better. He always did.
âI can hear the frown on your face. Whatâs the matter?â
âJust that weâre not going to spend the holidays together like you said we would.â You curled your arms and legs into your torso. The 1 of the 3 cats had since given up on the cookie. One of the remaining stood on its hind legs and pressed its front paws on your bicep.
Your boyfriend let out a sigh over the other side of the line. âYou heard?â
âWell, Iâm with Mary. Yeah, I heard.â You explained.
You heard rustling. âI would have liked to tell you myself.â
âA little late for that, huh?â You chuckled humorlessly. You felt the tears welling up in your eyes.
You were proud of Roger, honestly. You really were. This was his dream and he was succeeding and you were so happy for him. You hated when he was gone this long though. And itâs not that you didnât trust him because, by God, you did. You just missed him so much.
âI really donât know what to say or what to tell you, Y/n,â Roger confessed. You looked over to Mary who had let a few silent tears fall as she stared at the currently off telly. You made eye contact with her as one of your own tears rolled down your cheek.
âThat youâll come home somehow.â Your voice broke and you coughed to cover it. âPlease.â
âY/n...â
âYeah,â you said, and took a deep breath in an attempt to calm yourself. âI know, Roger.â
âIâm really sorry.â
No, you arenât, you thought. But you held your tongue and swallowed back the words, not wanting to cause a fight. You knew he was sorry but you were bitter.
âYeah, I know.â You answered dejectedly.
âIâll-â
âMake it up to me, yeah,â you looked over to Mary again as you rubbed at your eye with you jumper sleeve. She crawled over to you and you let her lean against you. You were grateful for the contact.
âWell, Iâve got to go,â he breathed. He always had to go. You nodded in response well aware that he couldnât see it.
You sniffled. âI love you, Rog. So very much.â
âI love you too, Y/n. So very much.â He matched the cadence of your voice. A chuckle bubbled itâs way through your lungs. âBye, beautiful.â
âBye,â you whispered. The line went dead and you set the phone back on the stand.
You and Mary sat together, emotionally drained, slouched on the couch. The both of you suddenly were without the loves of your lives for the holidays.
âSo,â you breathed shakily. You let a few more tears fall. âYou got any plans for Christmas?â Mary laughed dryly. âOr New Yearâs?â She shot back. âSeriously Iâve got no plans! Not anymore anywaysâŚâ You trailed off.
âWe can do Christmas at yours and New Yearâs here,â she suggested with a shrug.
You nodded absentmindedly. That would be fun, you supposed. âSounds good by me.â
âWant to sleep over tonight?â Mary asked as she sat up and faced you.
âSure,â you replied. âAs long as I buy breakfast tomorrow morning, my treat.â
âYou have yourself a deal.â
The holidays went as planned with Mary. You spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with her at your flat, watching Christmas movies and exchanging presents. Mary even brought over her presents from Freddie and her family and opened them at your flat. Having someone else there was so much better than the solitude you had become used to.
It was all well and good until you realized that Rogerâs presents were going to remain under the tree for quite a bit. He called you in the afternoon to wish you a Happy Christmas and to apologize again. After Mary left, you spent the rest of the day drinking wine and crying. You couldnât even bring yourself to take down any of the decorations.
Nearly a week passed and Mary got sick with the flu, leaving you to celebrate New Yearâs eve alone. You had tried to help her, but she insisted that she could manage and didnât want to risk getting you sick. (She deadbolted her front door and wouldnât let you in when you dropped by with soup.)
Because you had nothing else to do, nowhere to go, and zero desire to be out on a night like this, you did chores and cooked for a good majority of the day. After cleaning the bedroom, guest bedroom, and bathroom, you moved onto slow-roasting vegetables for your dinner. You were not looking forward to ringing in the New Year on your own.
You laid on your bed, bored out of your mind. What did people do when they had this much time to kill? Staring at the ceiling you let your legs hang off of the edge and your thoughts wander.
You hated sleeping in this damn bed. It was too big and too soft and too cold except when Roger was there in it too. But now you were starting to get used to sleeping in it alone, and that was the problem. You didnât want to get used to it.
When Roger was here, the bed was small and you could touch him. When Roger was here, the bed didnât need to be soft because you slept right up against him, almost on top of him. When Roger was here, the bed was too hot and you would kick the covers onto the floor and still be wrapped in his arms because him making you overheat while you tried to sleep was better than having no one there at all.
You cried yourself into a dreamless nap and stirred awake to the sound of your front door opening. You rubbed your puffy eyes.
Someone else was in your flat.
Sitting bolt upright, you came to your senses and instinctively reached to grab the flashlight, kept on your nightstand at Rogerâs insistence.
âY/n?â A voice called.
You knew that voice. But that couldnât be right. You let the flashlight fall back to the nightstand with a clatter.
âY/n! Iâm home.â You clambered and scrambled off of the bed in your half-awake daze. Roger.
You sprinted down the hallway, not caring about how many walls you stumbled into. You had to be imagining this.
You rounded the corner and beheld your boyfriend shutting the front door behind him and setting down his bags next to the coat rack. You were so overwhelmed with the situation that you couldnât help the expression of love that left your mouth.
âWhat the fuck are you doing here?â
Roger blinked at you in confusion. ââWelcome homeâ would suffice,â he teased warmly.
The reality of him being home finally hit you and you ran full force at your boyfriend. You wrapped him your arms and legs around him and he held you tightly, like he didnât intend on letting go for a while. For real.
âIâm so glad youâre here,â you whispered. You loosened your arms but didnât let go of him nor did he let go of you. You remained suspended in his embrace. Rogerâs pretty blue eyes looked back into yours and you werenât dreaming. âBut really⌠what are you doing here?â
Instead of answering you, Roger attacked your lips with his and walked the two of you to the couch where you sat straddling his lap. For a blissful minute, that was all you did. You kissed him, attempting to make up for all the time you had lost when he was away. And you had a LOT of catching up to do.
Eventually you pulled away much to the dismay of Roger. Your fingertips brushed his fluffy blonde hair out of his face, still seated in his lap. You pecked a kiss to Rogerâs nose.
âSoâŚâ you prompted for the third time. Roger leaned forward to kiss you again but you put your pointer finger up to halt his lips. âIâm not complaining. And we can bloody well finish this later but no more until I get an explanation.â
âI canât surprise my loving girlfriend?â He asked with that cheeky grin that he wore oh-so well. You raised your eyebrows at him and he ran his fingers idly up and down the outsides of your legs. âFreddie worked his magic and got us free time. Except for a few weekend gigs, Iâm all yours until the end of January.â
You gasped in excitement. âAre you serious?!â
Roger laughed in response. âOf course, darling.â
You squealed and kissed him again, over the moon that Roger was going to be home for a while. Especially since he wouldnât be missing New Yearâs Eve like he said he would. You looked at the gifts under the tree and then back at Roger.
âYouâre opening your Christmas presents next year,â you teased through his affections.
He rolled his eyes and continued kissing you. âYou can just say tomorrow. Thatâs when youâre opening yours.â
ââNext yearâ is so much more fun though!â You exclaimed. Roger pulled back to take a breather.
âYou are so beautiful.â He mused quietly. You smiled at him. âI love you so much.â
âAs much as you love that car?â You couldn't help yourself. You were in too good of a mood.
Roger tickled your sides in retaliation. âEven more. Want me to prove it?â Roger challenged leaning you forward over the edge of the couch. You tightened your grip around his shoulders.
âYou donât have it in you,â you squinted your eyes back at him in faux-competition.
âWeâll see about that.â
In one swift movement, he maneuvered you off his lap and over his shoulder. Roger laughed at your noise of surprise and carried you to your bedroom.
Oh, you couldn't wait to catch up.
After quite a bit of⌠um, quality time together, the two of you finished prepping the dinner you had started before Roger came home. Thank goodness you had planned to make enough to have leftovers so there was a serving for him too.
You spent your evening with a certain blonde drummer never more than 4 feet away from you. When you began to plate the dinner, Roger wrapped his arms around your waist, rested his head on your shoulder, and swayed gently to an idle tune. And when you waited for the countdown, your boyfriend and you sat leaning forward on the couch excitedly waiting for midnight.
His arm was wrapped around your waist and his hand rested on your hip. 5, 4, 3, 2âŚ
âHappy New Year!â You and Roger cheered at the same time. You turned to face him with your arms thrown up to the ceiling as you danced in place.
Roger grabbed you by the waist and pulled you toward him gently. He pressed a gentle kiss to your lips and smiled through it.
âHappy New Year, Roger,â you muttered through the kiss. Roger was not relenting. Even as you leaned back to pull away, he dipped you low to the ground. You fell to the ground with a thud and laughed when Roger cursed and fell on top of you.
âGot a little overzealous there, huh?â You asked.
âYeah,â Roger breathed and twirled a piece of your hair around his finger. âAnd Iâm going to do it again.â
Your giggles echoed through the living room.
You woke up when the sunlight tickled your lashes, peeking through the thin blinds you had haphazardly closed the night before. Your hand instinctively reached to rub your face and your nails scraped at the dry inner corners of your eyes.
It took you a moment to register that Roger had laid his head on the middle of your chest. His light hair was spread around his head and onto your arm chaotically like a wreath. You watched his side slowly rise and fall as he continued to slumber peacefully. His long lashes almost brushed his cheeks and Rogerâs lips were slightly pursed and parted from sleeping on his side.
He looked beautiful. If you moved, you would wake him. One of his arms was tucked against his chest under his chin and the other was reached across your torso with his hand snugly settled in the underside of your waist, securely locking you in place. Ever so slowly you craned your neck forward, brushed a featherlight kiss onto the top of his head and leaned back to where you had been laying. Your fingertips rubbed the soft ends of his blonde hair between your fingers as if you werenât quite sure he was really here.
Within a few seconds, Roger took in a deep breath and stirred awake. He stretched out the arm that was wrapped around your waist.
âGood morning,â you greeted groggily. Rogerâs mouth immediately turned to a smile and he turned his head to look at you.
âGood morning to you too,â he responded, his voice raspy and thick with sleep. He unrolled himself from his position and laid on his side to face you. You mirrored him.
âAre you ready to open your presents?â You asked gently.
âThereâs only one I want to open right now,â he smoothly hummed. Roger moved to kiss you and you turned your head away to dodge it. He dropped his jaw, offended at your movement.
âWe both have morning breath, Rog,â you explained, resting your hand on his cheek. âLetâs get a little cleaned up and then we can continue this, yeah?â
Eventually the two of you made it to the living room and you divvied up the Christmas presents between you and him between long swigs of freshly brewed coffee. Rogerâs pile was fairly heft  due to the fact that he hadnât been able to open them on the day he was supposed to. Having Roger home was gift enough for you though. When the space underneath the tree was empty, save for the tree skirt, he began to open them.
Roger tore open his presents. Among a jumper from his mother, a handful of socks from his sister, and a new set of drumsticks from his dad, Roger proceeded then to open the gifts from you.
The first one he opened was a box of matchbox cars with heart eyes individually hand-drawn on the windshields courtesy of you. The second one he opened was a nice pair of boots that he had been eyeing the last time the two of you went out before he left for his latest round of performances. The third and final gift you got him was a picture book with heartfelt captions that you made of the last few years you had been together. That one may have made him tear up a little bit.
Roger stood from his spot on the floor and encased you in a tight hug from your spot on the couch. âY/n,â he whispered, âI love you so very much. Thank you for everything.â He landed a sweet kiss on your forehead then your nose, your cheek and finally your lips.
âYouâre so very welcome.â You answered. Roger had been more than affectionate lately not that you were complaining.
âI have something for you too. Donât think I forgot,â he explained. You knew he wouldnât ever forget you; he made sure that you knew that. Roger picked the red envelope that he had placed the previous evening up off of the coffee table and handed you it. Your name was scrawled messily on the front in his handwriting. âIâm sorry I could only get you one thing.â
You worked on gently ripping open the flap of the envelope. âRoger, it doesnât matter what you get me. I just need you.â You put your hand on his cheek and your boyfriend kissed the inside of your wrist.
âThat was ridiculously corny,â he muttered, âbut youâre cute so Iâll let it pass.â
You rolled your eyes as you finally unstuck the envelope flap and opened the card. It read:
âY/n Dearest,
Iâm trying to get better at this sappy stuff. The band is convinced that the most romantic thing Iâve ever written up to this point is, well⌠it rhymes with âIâm in Love with my Star.â But Iâm going to try anyways to top it.â
You chuckled and bumped his shoulder with yours. âIâm seriously concerned with your infatuation with automobiles.â
âOh, just keep reading,â Roger pushed.
âI love you. So very much. And I hate being away from you for so long when I was made to be at your side. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me for missing your birthday and Christmas. For all the times youâve been there for me, I should have been and should still be there for you. And for that I am sorry.â
âAw, you donât need to be sorry,â you corrected softly. âIâm proud of you. And Iâm happy that youâre seeing the benefits of your hard work.â
âYouâre lovely,â he whispered. âBut keep on reading.â
âAs for your gift, consider this a voucher for a puppy or kitten of your choosing. If youâre going to need something to keep you company, it might as well be a friend with fluffy hair other than yours truly.
Yours truly ; )
Roger xxâ
You looked up from the card in shock. You were getting a pet. Oh my God⌠You were getting a pet!
âIâm getting a puppy?!â You yelled excitedly. Roger laughed amusedly at your mirth.
âOr a kitten⌠your choice,â he answered. His eyes crinkled as he smiled at you.
âRoger, this is the best gift ever,â you pulled him close to you and began to kiss him. Thatâs all the two of you seemed to do since he had gotten back. âThank you.â
Summary: after the long path that you and Roger went through to beginning your relationship, things started to get different then what was supposed to be.
A / N: Hey loves! I hope that during this past week you guys havenât forgotten about this fic, heh. It isnât as good because my classes are now back and I donât have much of free time. And well well, this story - tbh - is almost over, and I already got an idea for another one (which tbh I think itâs gonna be so much better). If you are interested in the next story, let me know. I hope yâall enjoy this chapter, and the next ones, since our story is almost over. Please please please, do gimme feedback, that means a lot to me!! Enjoy it and yâall have a great week! Also, typos and grammar mistakes as usual.
âHave you invited (Y/N) to go on tour with us?â Freddie asked Roger.
      âDid you invite Mary?â
      âNo, Mary doesnât like it.â
âWell, (Y/N) also doesnât like it.â
âBut have you asked her?â Freddie insisted and Roger remained in silence. He havenât invited you, he wasnât ready for it. He liked you but tour was like this holy thing for thing, where he had all of his freedom and in that for him he couldnât find room for a girlfriend that he had to take care of, not that he didnât like to watch out for you, but just not in tourâŚ
âRoger, if you gonna do this to her you better just break up.â Brian had given him this advice before. You were starting your vacations, you had taken your last exams and during those past weeks the two of you had turned away a little bit. You with your finals and Roger with band stuff. Roger didnât want you in tour, and to be honest you werenât even sure if you wanted to go â actually you didnât knew it was a tour, you only knew it was a few concerts around, no big deal, not really a tour across the country.
It was your last day of classes and you havenât seen Roger in more than a week. You decided to go to his apartment, but he wasnât there. You then headed to Johnâs house to hang out with him, turns out the entire band was there.
âHey! We werenât expecting you.â John said when he first saw you at the door.
âHello to you too, wally. Howâs going?â you let yourself in and saw the other guys. âOh hey.â You said a little shy. Roger that was coming from the kitchen saw you right in this moment. You smiled at him; he approached you and gave you a hug, saying hi. The two of you were distant, the others could notice that.
âHow are you, love?â Roger asked, you answered you were alright, you sat on the couch, far from Roger, but close to Freddie, you leaned your head on Freddieâs shoulder.
âWe were just discussing things about the tourâ Freddie let you know.
      âTour?â you sounded confused.
âBloody Christ Roger, didnât you tell your girl about the tour?â Brian mocked him.
âWell, he said that you guys were going out to make concerts, but is it a big tour?â
âYeah.â Brian nodded as it was obvious.
âWe both were very busy, we havenât seen each other for like years.â Roger dramatized.
âItâs ok, I mean, now I know at least. When are you guys leaving?â You tried to take the blame out of Roger a bit.
      âSaturday.â Freddie answered you.
      âSaturday? Thatâs in two days!â
âAre you coming with us?â John asked. You werenât expecting this question, you looked at Roger, his face wasnât even in your direction, you noticed he didnât want you to go, he would have asked for you to go with.
âNah, I guess I will just enjoy my time left in London.â
âI still canât believe you are seriously leaving London.â Freddie complained. Meanwhile Roger lighted a cigarette.
âYeah, I have a semester to finish in Bradfordâs University, and since my life is still pretty much there, Iâm staying there.â
âOh, no.â Freddie started. âYou have a life here as well, and honestly darling, itâs so much better than that tedious city.â
âYeah, you have us now.â Brian said with a smile. You glanced again at Roger. He was wearing sunglasses, his face was in your direction but there was no way to tell if he was looking at you. He actually was, he was looking at you and wondering why you didnât mention about him and your relationship. Things got that cold during these past days? You smirked at Brian as an answer.
âTime to head off.â You piped while getting out of the couch.
âBut you just got here!â John remembered.
âYeah, but I thought it was going to be just the two of us, my lover.â You joked at him. âAnyway guys, I catch up with you later.â
      âBye (Y/N).â
âRoger?â you called him. âAm I seeing you tonight?â
âYeah, sure.â You kissed his cheek and left.
Roger didnât show up that night and you didnât wait for him much longer. You were kinda upset about the relationship going like that. He did show up the next day in the afternoon.
He arrived in your apartment and you greeted him with a kiss. He sat on the couch, things werenât comfortable.
âSorry for not showing up last night, I ended up sleeping.â He said.
âItâs okâ you smiled, sitting on a chair across the room, far from him.
â(Y/N)âŚâ he started, not knowing how to keep talking
âRoger, me too.â You said, trying to make things easier.
âItâs not the same anymore.â He completed.
âI know.â You whispered. âA lot happened and yet it feels like it was nothing.â
âBut it was something, (Y/N).â he got up on the couch and got near you, he got on his knee right next to you, still sitting on the chair, his hand touching yours.
âI guess it was good while it lasted.â
âIt was so damn good.â He took a deep breath. âIt was just not meant to be.â
âYesâŚâ you gave him a sad smile. He hugged you, you couldnât avoid but letting a tear out.
âLove, please donât cry.â He cleaned the tear on your cheek.
      âAre we still friends?â
â(Y/N), our relationship may not have worked but you will always be in my heart, you are my friend, bloody hell.â The two of you kept hugged in a while, just feeling what was going on. You both agreed with that, but down deep none of us really wanted it, you two wanted what you had in the beginning, that crazy feeling of rejection and desire, Roger running to conquer you and you mad at him for being with another girl. Life had showed the two of you that maybe it wasnât meant to be. Roger left. And Queen left for tour. You left London; you couldnât stand the city for three more months if there was no reason for you to stay in there anymore.
You moved to your old apartment in Bradford. It was weird to be back. You tried to find Jen when you first arrived in the city and she was happy to see you, the two of you met at the cafeteria you used to work, you told her everything. She was now dating some guy, who she said she was in love with, she really seemed happy. She didnât care much that you dated Roger, actually she was excited about the whole thing and even tried to talk about how good he was in bed. You didnât feel enough comfortable to talk about it with her. Truth be told, you thought you wouldnât miss Roger but you did, deeply. Even when he wasnât there, he was still there, you two had each other, he was your safe place to go during storms for almost 5 months and even though you had agreed with the breaking up, you werenât ready. Jen wouldnât understand that, no one would.
Turns out that afterwards you ended up hurt, in a very different way that you thought it would be. You were hurt for letting the two of you turn away from each other, was that your fault? Was that his fault? Why couldnât the two of you make it work out, why in the first part that the relationship showed that wasnât well you had to break up? It was when you realized it, there was no love. Roger didnât love you enough so he could give up on his tour experience for you. You didnât love him enough to understand his choices. You wanted to be near one of the guys, Freddie would have come out with a plan, or an idea so you could get over it. Brian would say something smart, John would hug you. Roger would make you laugh; fill your heart with joy.
During one night your phone rang; you thought it could be Jen, but it wasnât. It was Roger. He had tried to call your number in London but it was said that it had been turned off, so he tried your old number in Bradford, turns out it worked, he wasnât expecting to, until he heard your voice. When he heard your voice he felt weird, he had been down as much as you had. He wanted all those things back, he missed the relationship, but he also knew it wasnât the same anymore. He thought âwe are friends, why donât I give her a callâ. He really didnât want you to pick up, he just wanted to let himself know that he tried.
âHello?â you said over the phone.
âHi.â You heard the familiar voice on the other side.
âRoger?â you knew it was him but you still wanted to confirm.
      âHey love, how are you?â
âIâm alright, is everything good? Where are you guys now?â
âIâm ok, just having some trouble sleeping, you know. We are in Southampton now.â
âQuite south, huh?â he remained in silence. âTrouble sleeping? Are you nervous about something?â you had learnt that when Roger was nervous about something or anxious he had trouble sleeping that would keep him awake the whole night.  Â
âYeah, you know, like every tour.â Silence again. âSo youâre back to Bradford, huh?â
âMhm.â None of you knew what to talk about, nothing seemed right, but both of you wanted to talk to each other, listen to each otherâs voice. He kept in line, listening to your breathing. The sound of your breathing made him remember of other moments when you were heavily breathing in his ear during sex.
âYou should come see one of our concertsâ he said.
      âIn Southampton?â you teased.
âSure, why not? I know how much you love the south.â He teased back, you werenât the biggest fan of southern England, no particular reason, you just liked the north better. âOr maybe you can come see us in Edinburg, is that north enough for you?â
âYouâre ridiculousâ you laughed, he had mocked you a couple of times for you preferring the northern UK. He laughed too and you loved the sound of his laugh, it made your heart ache a little bit. It hit you how much you missed him, having him around and how the two of you didnât give each other time to get used to one another again. The silence was there once more but this time was lighter.
âGuess what I had for breakfast this morningâ you started.
      âWhat?â
      âBagels.â
      âSounds good.â
âBut I had bagels with something in.â
âOh no, you didnât.â You and Roger had already argued over that the first time the two of you shared a meal, the first night the two of you slept together.
      âI did. Sue me.â
âThatâs it, Iâm getting inside my car right now and heading to Bradford to burn you for your sins.â
âTry me, bitch.â Both of you laughed again. The rest of the phone call was like that, one making company to the other and not necessarily saying important things but just having each otherâs presence. Afterwards as Roger said, things didnât work out in the relationship, but you were still friends. Friends can miss each other, right?
(to be continued)

Summary: Reader is an emerging actress who met Roger at one of his concerts. They immediately clicked and now they have been in a relationship for almost a year. Thereâs only one big problem: the reader isnât the only woman in Rogerâs life. In fact he is married and has a child. That makes them keep  their relationship a secret to the world.
In the serie I imagined Roger to be 32 years old while the reader would be 27.
A/N:So, here we are. The last chapter (can you hear me crying?) I want to thank anyone who followed, commented and liked this series. Your support really meant A LOT to me. This was the first fic I wrote here and I would have NEVER thought that more that 100 people would have read it. I love you guys very much and I hope that you will like this last part.

You didnât know how to react when you found him there standing in front of you.
âRogerâ you whispered, almost questioned, trying to understand why he was there, why he had a suitcase with him.
âCan I come in?â his tone was calm, opposed to his face which was tired and body tensed.
You nodded and stepped back leaving some space for him to walk in your apartment.
âWhy are you here?â You were looking at him as he laid his luggage next to the couch.
His body turned around and he looked at you, he stayed silent for a few seconds and then asked âWhat did you tell me before running away at Freddieâs party?â
You didnât reply, you were so afraid of saying those words. Roger stepped closer to you and held both of your hands intertwining his fingers with yours. âWhat did you tell me (Y/N)?â He asked one more time.
âThat you knew what you had to do if you wanted me back.â You said hesitant, nervous about what he would reply.
âAnd if Iâm here it means that I took my decision, that I knew what I had to do.â
And then reality, panic hit you. It was all your fault.
You broke his family, you told him to leave his wife, he broke a marriage because of you, because you couldnât keep your mouth shut and stay away from him. You were a homewrecker, the title that you always wanted to avoid now fit on you perfectly and you couldnât shake that away from you. You deserved to be called in that way because you were one. âRoger you-â your voice almost broke âyou canât, you didnât have to.â
âWhat are you sayingâ he frowned looking at you and kneeling down a bit so that he could be at your same height level.
âIt was all my fault.â A tear ran down your cheek. âI broke your family, I asked you to divorce from your wife.â
âWhat? Noâ he shook his head laying his hands on your arms. âI always told you that our marriage wasnât going well in the last year, that it was basically over.â
âBut you broke up with your wife because of what I said.â
Roger cupped your cheeks with his hands lifted lightly your face to make you look at him. âThatâs not true at allâ his thumb wiped away your tear. âThat night at Freddieâs party we already decided to divorce, we already had the papers at home, we just had to sign them. It was already over. It wasnât what you said that made me put my name on those documents. It was what me and Dominique wanted and needed.â
âBut-â
âNo but, it was my decision. You donât have anything to do with it.â
âActually I do Roger. If we didnât meet a year ago you probably would still be with your wife.â
âWe donât know how things would have turned out if I didnât meet you. But I did and it happened and I donât care whether it was at the right time or not, whatâs important is that I want to stay with you and now Iâm free to do it.
âBut Rog-â
âStop overthinking.â He whispered laying his forehead against yours âDo you want a life with me as much as I want to?â
You nodded looking at him.
âThen letâs start living it now.â
And with that, he broke the distance that there were between the two of you, his lips found yours in a kiss which was filled with love and freedom because both of you knew that now you were free to love in the way you always wanted, that you didnât have to run away, you didnât have to hide anymore.
Roger wrapped his arm around your waist and with a swift move he lifted you up making you wrap your legs around his waist. Stumbling he made his way in your bedroom, neither of you dared to break the kiss, only when he laid you on the bed he pulled away. His hands laid on both side of your head as he supported himself while hovering you. His eyes didnât leave yours as he murmurs âYouâre so beautifulâ almost as he still couldnât believe that you were there with him. Your hands lingered on his neck pulling him back down to kiss him again âYouâre not bad eitherâ you mumbled against his lips and a smile formed on both of your mouths. You took your time, you wanted to savour the moment that you have waited so long to happen, Roger was finally yours and you could tell that he had your same intentions when he slowly made the straps of your dress fall from your shoulders kissing every inch of your skin. You closed your eyes, it was like his kisses could burn every spot he pecked and it was a blissful sensation. His lips didnât stop drawing lines of kisses on your now naked body as your fingers traced undefined figures down his bare back. And it was when your fingers laid by the end of his back that Roger slid inside you, sounds of pleasure coming out from both your mouth, your head tilted back on your pillow as for the first time you didnât feel guilty for what you were doing because Roger now was only yours. After a few thrusts, Roger stopped moving earning a concerned look from you. âI want to feel you closerâ he panted holding your hips and making you switch position so now you wear on top. Never losing his grip he sat up laying his back against the headboard so now you were sat on his lap, your chest against his and his arms running up and down your back. You lifted lightly your body so that Roger could align again with your entrance and then you moved your hips down starting to make love again. Your lips met again and you mumbled âI love youâ in the middle of the kiss as your fingers ran through his hair. When Roger wrapped his arm tightly around your waist and you could feel his thrust going deeper and slower you could say that he was close and you were too. Laying your forehead against his you held him close to you, you didnât need to say anything, you could understand each other only by a gaze. And thatâs when both of you came undone at the unison.
Rogerâs head was laying on your chest while you were playing with his hair, it was silence, the only noise was caused by your heavy breathes. âYou wonât leave this time, right?â Roger broke the quiet, his eyes were looking at you when you tilted your head down to see him. âItâs my place, I canât leaveâ you chuckled softly making Roger smile.
âI meant in general, you wonât leave again, will you?â his hand reached yours making your fingers intertwine âBecause my heart wonât be able to take it. I need you more than ever and I need you in my life. I need to know that whenever I will come home I will be able to find you, that every night Iâll go to bed with you and when I wake up in the morning you will be still sleeping in my arms. Because I love looking at you sleeping and seeing that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you are dreaming about something, I love that when I spend a day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes; and I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night.â Your eyes started to get watery at his confession, your free hands went up to his cheek as you stroked it with your thumb. âMy heart is yours (Y/N), and you will always have it.â His lips kissed your hand making you smile while you quickly wiped away a tear that fell down your cheek. âI promise that I wonât ever leave you again, because I know that if I leave my life wonât be the same without you. I had a taste of it and I hated it. I donât care how hard it will be, you complete me Roger. And I am and will always be yours.â
âPromise?â he left your hand he was holding over your chest and made you intertwine only your pinkies. His eyes never left yours and they were telling you how much he loved you, how much he was ready to stay with you and fight for your relationship against anyone and anything.
You smiled widely as you kissed him as your pinkie still held his one. âI promise.â

February 1974
âAll that Iâm saying is that before closing this stall you have to be sure that you will be able to earn enough money from your music.â You hated to be this harsh with Roger but most of the time you had to be the pragmatist of the couple. Yes, with Queen things were going better than any other band he had ever been in before, they had already an album out and had recorded another one that would be out the following month. They had done many and many gigs since John joined the bad and they just came back from a concert in Australia. Still, you kept open Roger and Freddieâs Kensington stall while they were on tour and you didnât think that it was the best idea to close it because you and Roger werenât in a stable economic situation yet. âI am earning money with Queen, and I havenât been in this stall for so long while we were touring. It makes no sense to keep it open. And Freddie thinks the sameâ
âWhen you werenât here working I was.â You said while applying a price tag to a coat. âAnd Freddie doesnât need this stall anymore because heâs earning more money than you.â You looked at Roger who rolled his eyes, you didnât want to be this frankly but he needed to hear the truth âMy work as photographer assistant doesnât give me a lot of money, neither does yours. We need to pay the rent, food, bills, we need this stall Rog.â
*******flashback********
âYou know, getting this stall may have been the best idea you have ever hadâ you joked looking around to the clothes that Freddie accurately set. You were at the end of your first year of uni and you were struggling to get at the end of the month. Both you and Roger had to study for university by day and then by night you worked in a pub and Rog went around playing with his band to earn some money, but all that was becoming too much. Thatâs when a friend of his, Freddie, told him that he opened a stall in Kensington and it wasnât too bad as gain, he managed to pay his bills and rent and thatâs what you needed. Rog would still play with Smile at night and during the afternoon you both would have worked at the stall while in the meantime you still managed to study for your classes.
âPenny, if you keep taking home clothes for free then we would earn nothing because we will remain with no clothes at all.â Freddie said looking at you.
âBut come on, this fur is made for me.â You replied pouting as you watched at your reflection in the mirror. âIâm sure that Rog agrees.â You grinned looking at your boyfriend âAt least, that what he told me yesterday when I was wearing his.â you both chuckled thinking about the previous night when you decided to try one of his fur coat wearing only your lingerie underneath it. It was unnecessary to say that Roger couldnât keep his hands for himself and thatâs how you learned that he loved it and you turned that on one of your habits.
âGod, I donât even want to know.â Freddie rolled his eyes. âStill, if you want that coat, you have to pay for it.â
âOh my God, okayâŚâ you said taking it off from you âyour majestyâ you then mocked looking at Freddie.
******************
âIâm just saying that Iâm on the same page of Rogâ Freddie stated as he sat next to the register.
âWell, did Mr drummer here told you that we are looking for a new flat?â
âHe did, but I donât get what that should mean.â
âIt means that we need money, Freddie. Rents cost a fortune in London and we canât afford it only with our jobs and without the stall.â That comment made Roger roll his eyes once more.
âI told you that we will find a way-âÂ
âRogerâ you stopped him harshly. âI donât want to find myself in the same situation we were on our first year of uni and I donât want to keep this conversation here.â
And just as you finished the sentence someone walked in the stall, you turned around smiling but as you saw who the client was your smile disappeared. It was Betty and you couldnât stand her at all, she was one year younger than you and Roger and studied Biology when you were at the university. Thatâs where she saw Rog for the first time, then she started to show up to Smile concerts, then to Queen and of course, when she found out that Roger had a stall in Kensington she would have come there at least three times a week. Anyone who knew even a little Roger knew that he was in a long term relationship with you, but Betty didnât seem to care, she took any chance she had to flirt with him even if he never flirted back in all those years. âHi Roger!â she basically squealed and completely ignoring you and Freddie.
âWell, hi Bettyâ you said with a pissed tone and Fred chuckled enjoying the scene that was about to happen.
âOh, hiâ she quickly looked at you and then turned back to Roger. âIâll look around for any new stuff that you have.â
âI donât think that there will be many different clothes from the ones we had two days ago.â You told not letting Roger speak.
Betty gave you a small fake smile and started to look through the clothes, you watched carefully what she picked. A dress, a crop top, a skirt and of course a fur, she was so predictable. She always acted in that way, she chose clothes that cover the least skin they could and then asked for Rogerâs opinion. You always tried to act more mature than her and let all that go but that was just too much, you already were pissed by the little discussion you had before with your boyfriend and now her, you were all too pissed for that. Thatâs why you decided to play her own game, while she was looking through the clothes you sat on the desk and reached out for Roger who moved closer and stood between your legs. âI like this new shirtâ you said as your hands started to play with the collar âFits good on youâ your finger travelled on his necklace and then hooked on one of them bringing him closer so you could whisper in his ear âI wonder how it would fit on me, do you think it would fit me better than your fur coat?â you could see him biting his lip but before he could say anything a voice, her voice, coming from the changing room interrupted you. âRoger, could you come to help me with the zip of the dress please?â Was she being serious? Roger looked at you not knowing what to actually do, you sighed getting off from the desk and walked to the changing room. As she saw you Betty frowned âThe rules are that boys canât get in while girls are changing and the same for girls with boysâ you explained faking a smile as you zipped the dress. âHere you are, everythingâs closed.â You walked back to Rog who was hiding an entertained smile âSomeoneâs jealous?â he whispered so that Betty couldnât hear âYou knowâ you kissed him âMaybe closing the stall isnât such a bad ideaâ you joked as your lips didnât leave his ones. âSo Roger, what do you think about this dress?â Betty asked as she walked out, you felt Rogâs head tilting his head lightly but you put your hands on his cheeks avoiding him to look at her. âYouâ your lips met his again âyou look goodâ he mumbled even though he wasnât looking at her.
âFreddie, we closed the shop yesterdayâ The blonde said looking over your shoulder. âItâs your turn nowâ and with that, he lifted you up laughing as you squealed wrapping your arms around his neck.
âYou two, where do you think youâre going?â Freddie asked almost annoyed.
âIâm taking this jealous lady at home, our shift has officially finishedâ
âAnd who says that?âÂ
âThe boss just said itâ you replied chuckling.
âKinkyâ the drummer joked looking at you and walked out leaving Freddie alone with Betty.
Roger was humming all the drive back to your flat, one hand on the wheel and the other on your thigh, you couldnât help but smile widely at his behaviour. Once the car was parked and you both got off your feet were lifted from the ground as Roger picked you up back in his arms âAre you really thinking about making three flights of stairs carrying me?â You chuckled.
âAre you really questioning my abilities?â h ereplied in a cocky tone.
But you were right, when you reached your door Roger was panting. You didnât let him catch his breath though, as soon as you opened the door you kissed him pulling him inside by the collar of his shirt. It didnât take you long to walk to the bed and pushing Roger lightly so that he could sit on it and you straddled his lap. Your fingers started to work on his shirt and unbuttoning the first buttons as your lips kissed the skin of his neck, when he stopped you holding your hands. âWaitâ he said still panting âWait a secondâ he laid his forehead against yours, closing his eyes as he tried to make his breath regular again.
âAbout the discussion we had before-â
âFor the stall? Really Rog, we can talk about it laterâ your fingers started to work again on his buttons but once again he stopped you.
â(Y/N), for once in your life, please listen to meâ a grin formed on his lips as he looked up at you. âIâm sorry if I sounded moody before, itâs just that I really canât stand the fact that everything is going well with the band but we still canât make enough money to close the stall. I want to buy a new fucking flat and not having to worry about not making it to the end of the month. I donât want to make you work two different jobs âcause your boyfriend is trying to be a rockstar-â
âRogâ you stopped him cupping his cheeks âI donât care. I donât care if we still live in this small flat. I donât care if our bed is still an old mattress, I donât care if in the morning I have to go to my shitty boss who makes me take shitty and boring photos that no one will look at and then late in the afternoon I switch to my hot boss who works in a hipster Kensington stall and all his clients flirt with him. I donât care if after coming back home we sit down on the couch and looks at the bills and try to understand where we have to put our saving. Because at the end of the day I will be falling asleep next to the most amazing man in the world whom I love more than anyone in this planet, and thatâs what I care about.â
His hands laid over yours as his thumbs stroked them softly. âItâs justâ he sighed looking down but you lifted his chin making him look back at you. âItâs that I have been promising you that I will be this famous rockstar who will give you an amazing life for nine years and nothing has changed.âÂ
âThat isnât true, look at us, we moved in together, we had our degrees and you have a new band which is going well, as you said just a few minutes ago. You have been working hard for nine years and you wonât let anything blow away Mr Taylor.â
âBut Freddie already has this new flat with Mary and he even bought her a pretty nice engagement ring and it just makes me so angry that I canât give you the same things.â
âI donât need a ring to remind me every day that you love me. I think that putting up with me for nine years is enough proof because I know that sometimes I can be a bitchâ you laughed softly earning the same reaction from Roger. âSo donât ever doubt that all of this isnât enough for me. Of course, I hope that things will get better for us but until that all of this, all of you, is what I will ever need.â
*******flashback********
Your back was against the headboard of your bed as Roger was positioned between your legs, you were breathing heavily with your eyes closed. He came to your house and you were in your room watching a movie which then transformed in a heavy makeout session with Rogerâs hand buried under your skirt. It wasnât the first time it happened, you were now dating for three months and, already after the first week, it happened when you went on a date at the cinema, after he had a small gig with his band at a local pub, at the park, in his room etc, etcâŚ
But it never got any far, you knew that Roger had done that with other girls before you but never went after the âsecond baseâ. That meant he was still a virgin and so were you.
That day your father was working at the record shop and wouldn't have been back home before dinner time, so you knew that you and Roger had the whole afternoon for you two.
You climbed on his lap and started to kiss him deeply, his hands found your hips but when you started to unbutton his shirt they went up stopping your fingers âWaitâ he whispered against your lips âWhat- what are you doing?âÂ
âI want to make love to youâ you whispered back in his ear.
You could feel him gulp and his hands trembled a little. âPenny, we...we donât have to do this if you-â
âI want toâ you replied leaning back so that you could face him. âDo-do you want to?â
âYes.â he said almost immediately, just as if it was the most obvious thing. âBut if you donât feel ready we can wait. There is no pressure at all.âÂ
âIâm sure about itâ your eyes reassured Roger who with a smile started to slowly unbutton your yellow floral dress.
âYou are so beautifulâ he whispered once you were completely undressed, it was the first time that both of you saw the other one without any clothing item on. You bit your lip looking at him. âI can say the same thing about you.â
As he looked for the condom in his wallet you could feel a small knot forming in your stomach, you were nervous, who wouldnât be after all? Questions started to compose in your mind, and Roger could sense that. â(Y/N)â he called you by your name only when he was about to say something really serious. âIâm not doing this just cause I want to have fun, not just âcause I want to get over with that.â He smiled caressing softly your cheek. âIâm doing this because I care about you, because I love you. I donât want you to think that this will be a fling and that I will go away whenever I will get bored. Because I already know that I will never get bored of you, and I want to stay with you as long as you want to, even forever if thatâs what you want.â And those words magically made all your nervousness and doubts magically disappeared. And at that moment you understood that Roger Taylor was like your medicine, a remedy against all your sadness and anxiety in life.
******************
You were both laid in bed covered by the bed sheet, your head laid on Rogerâs shoulder while he was cuddling you. When the phone rang you groaned softly not wanting to break up that moment but Rog got up not caring of putting any clothes on him. âHello?â he asked as he picked up.
âYouâre not joking, are you?â a big smile appeared on his face and it looked like he could start to jump around the room from any moment. âGod Brian, this is it.â You kept looking at him from your bed wondering what Brian could have told him to make him so happy. âYes, yes, weâll be out in a half an hourâ
You didnât even need to ask him what the call was about when Roger hanged up âGet dressed, weâre going to celebrateâ he said climbing to the bed and making you sit on his lap. âOur manager booked us a tour of America for the next month.â You smiled widely and immediately kissed him running your hands through his hair. âThis is huge.â
You were proud and happy but then another emotion hit you suddenly and you felt the worst girlfriend ever when you understood what it was, you were afraid. Besides your father and your brother, Roger was the only other person to stay by your side for such a long time and that would have been the first time that he would have left to go overseas. Yes, he had already been on tour, but it had been around the United Kingdom and you could always jump on a train and go meet him on weekends when you didnât have to work. This time you wouldnât be able to pay him a visit whenever you wanted.
After your mother left your family when you were only five years old, it became hard for you to let people be part of your life. You were always afraid of letting yourself close to a person and then watch them leave you just like she did. But all changed when you met Roger, he suddenly made disappear that fear and you let him walk in your life easier than you had ever let anyone else. Â He was able to fill that hole that your mother left in your heart and he made you feel safe. That, though, made you grew an attachment to him and hardly you would spend more than two weeks without him because you would feel too alone. You were just so afraid that you would have lost him.
*******flashback********
It was late at night, almost three in the morning, when your father walked into your room. You were sleeping, Roger had a gig that night and told you that he wouldnât have been back sooner than midnight so it would have been better if you would have seen each other the following day at school. âPennyâ your dad shook your shoulder softly. âPennyâ he called again trying to wake you up. You stroked your sleepy eyes as the sound of the rain and the wind from the storm kept hitting your window âWhat?â you mumbled still not opening your eyes. âDarling-â you could feel him sit on the bed next to you as his hand grabbed yours. âRogerâs mom just called me, he was coming back from the concert and he was driving the bandâs van when he had an accident.â And in that exact second, you could feel your world collapse under your feet, your lungs stopped working and your eyes filled with tears. âW-where is him?âÂ
âHeâs still not home, the police just called his mother.â
âThe police? I-is him okay? Is it serious?âÂ
âI donât know love, they said it was pretty serious.â
âI-I need to go to himâ you said getting up from your bed and looking for some clothes as tears ran clouded your sight.
âPenny, itâs dangerous, thereâs a storm outside.â
âI donât careâ you almost screamed. âHe just had an accident and I have to go to him, he-he might be seriousâ a sob escaped from your lips. âI need to see him.â
The whole car drive to the accident place was filled with the sounds of your tears and your dad trying to reassure you. As soon as the car stopped you jumped out of the car and ran toward the van who was laid upside down by the side of the street. âMiss, you canât stay hereâ a cop blocked you. âMy boyfriend is here, let me go.â You said pushing the man away and walking closer to where the accident happened, and thatâs when you saw him. Roger was sat up against a tree as a doctor was checking him. âRogerâ your voice broke as you ran toward him and kneeled down next to him, you wanted to hold him as close as possible but you knew that he might have been some broken bones and would have been in a lot of pain.
After that night he went through a lot of trouble more mentally than physically. He wasnât able to fall asleep without having horrible nightmares, almost every night you could hear him knocking on your bedroom window. You would get up from your bed and after opening, he would step in âI couldnât sleep.â
âCome hereâ you would just say while laying back again on your bed. He would cry in your arms blaming himself for what happened but you reassured him that it wasnât his fault and that anything would have turned up fine for him and the rest of the band.
He would cuddle on you and you would talk about anything that happened during the day while playing with his hair, you would talk about music, about new records, about new bands and singers, about anything that would keep his mind away from that car accident.Â
And thatâs how he realised that he couldnât live without you, how you became the medicine that could ease all his pain.
******************
âEverythingâs fine?â Roger asked looking at you as he put a lock of your hair behind your ear.
You nodded smiling softly, your finger traced the line of his jaw. âIâm happy for you.â
âWe will tour Americaâ a huge smile on his lips and the look in his eyes was the same one that a kid has after they told him he would get his favourite toy.
âYes, you will.â But you didnât sound just as excited as he was.

A/N: Once again, sorry if it took me sooo much to write it.
Once again, sorry if this will make you cry.
Itâs a little shorter than the other chapters. Because at first it was meant to be longer and the last and final chapter but then I didnât want to let way too many stuff happen just because I wanted to write to a âlong chapterâ so I divided into two parts.
This means that the next chapter will be the end of this series (can you hear me crying?)
English isnât my first language so Iâm sorry for any mistake.
Hope you like it and donât be afraid to let me know what you think!

I tried to live this life on my own
But emptiness was beating down the door
Nothing makes sense without you
It's like waking up in the dark
I didn't have a song
Until you came along
Falling in love with you was easy
You were always meant to have my heart
I was broken all to pieces
You were there to be the missing part (x)
The phone kept ringing as you walked from your kitchen to the living room. âIâm coming, Iâm coming!â You said as if the person on the other side could actually hear you.
âHello?â You answered.
âHello darling.â
âWell, hello Freddie.â You smiled. âHow are you, my dear?â
âIâm doing well, you know, we just finished the tour last night. Weâre coming back to the UK tomorrow.â
âThatâs...good?â you chuckled âI guess I have to get some tea and scrabble ready for tomorrow evening?â
âOh donât be so boring.â Freddie grunted âYou know what happens when we finish a tour, we have a party and you-â
âAnd I wonât comeâ you stopped him before he could finish the sentence.
âAre you planning on spending the rest of your life closed in your flat?âÂ
âNo, Iâm just planning on not going to places where Iâm sure I will find Roger.â
âYou canât avoid him for the rest of your life.âÂ
âWatch me.â You replied challenging him.
âRoger will be with Dominique and my house has enough rooms to not make you see Roger for the whole night. You just have to stay away from the bar.â
âSounds like funâ You joked giggling as your fingers started to play with the rope of the phone.
âYou will order me all your drinks and I will bring them to you.â
âFreddieâ you sighed âThe rest of the guys will be with their wives too, it makes no sense to be there to me. I would feel like Iâm intruding.â
âYou wonât be intruding, Iâm the host of the party and I want you there.â
You remained quiet wondering if it would actually be a good idea to go to that party.
âPlease comeâ Freddie kept saying in a higher tone trying to sound cute.
*******
You were already regretting your decision as you put one foot in the hall of Freddieâs mansion, thoughts of what could happen started to run in your mind and the only solution at that moment was to go back to your place. But as you turned around to walk away a voice stopped you âWhere do you think youâre going?â You sighed cursing at his awful timing. âHey Freddieâ
âDonât you ever think to leave this party before the house will be completely emptyâ He smiled at you embracing your figure in a tight hug.
âItâs nice to see you.â You smiled back and thanked him as he immediately offered you a champagne glass.
âI can say the same.â He sat down on a couch making some space for you. âWell, you look better than I thought.â
âThank you I guess?â You chuckled sipping the champagne. âDid you expect me to show up with bags under my eyes, messy hair and all mourning?â
âNo, itâs just that after that you left Roger that morning-â
âIt was a month ago Freddie, Iâm good now, I donât want to spend all my time crying over myself.â
âIâm happy to hear that.â Freddie gave you a sincere smile before standing up and disappearing to talk with other guests.
What wasnât sincere, though, was what you told him. You werenât coping well with your break up from Roger. Seeing him again one month ago only made things worst, the thought that after leaving him he still couldnât go on with his family life and kept thinking about you was hunting you. You only wanted to go back to him, you wanted to have him but at the same time you had made your decision and you couldnât, you wouldnât change your mind. However, as you were talking to one of your colleagues who happened to be there between the hundreds of people at the party, you couldnât stop thinking about what Freddie told you, you just have to stay away from the bar. It was an easy task, but your heart started to beat faster at the thought that if you walked to the other room you would have seen him. And maybe Roger wouldnât even look at you being too busy talking with his wife, but you didnât care, you just needed to see him. And for the first time, for the only time you really didnât have to, you decided to listen to your stupid heart, you decided to get up from the couch and walk towards the bar.
As your heels walked inside the other room your heart stopped. He was there, sat on an armchair and talking with Brian, and as by some kind of magical string that kept you two tied he felt your presence in the room and when he lifted up his gaze it met yours. For a second you forgot how to breathe. For the second time that night you wanted to run back home but you didnât want to make that so obvious that you walked there just to see him. So you looked away pretending to ignore him and walked to the bar. âMay I have a glass of wine please?â you asked the bartender who nodded smiling at you. Your back was facing the guys as you were waiting for your glass, you sat on a stool not caring about what was happening around you.Â
âWhereâs your rider at?â you froze at his voice, he was standing there, right next to you and when you turned to your left you could see him staring at you. His eyes met with yours again and you could definitely see that he was tipsy.
âIâm aloneâ you replied trying to sound indifferent.
âLike I was when I woke up in that hotel room.â
âYou said you would have let me go after that nightâ You turned around looking back at your glass as you started to play with it, trying to focus your tension somewhere else.Â
âYou told me you would have let me say goodbye to you. You didnât let me do it that night, you dissapeared.â
âI thought that what we did was enough as a goodbyeâ You couldnât bare looking at him, you knew you would break right there.
âNothing would ever be enoughâ His voice sounded like he was fighting to hold back his tears. âI think I will never be able to let you go.â
âYou have to.â
âI canât let you go. Please-â he almost whispered âPlease donât disappear again.â  He got closer to you laying his forehead against your temple, your body got tensed up and you scanned around the room making sure that nobody was looking at you. âIâm going crazy without you.âÂ
You wanted to hold him, to cuddle him and reassure him that everything was going to be fine, your muscles were trembling from holding back and you wanted to kiss him right there, but you had to be strong. âShe can see us Roger.â You said talking about Dominique.
âShe wonât, she canât see us from there.â
You could feel tears forming in your eyes from all the frustration âI canât do this Roger.â You bit your lip looking at him with your watery eyes and got off from the stool walking away before you would break down in the middle of a party.
âWaitâ he held your hand stopping you before you could walk away. âYou canât just leave like that again.â
âI wonât have this conversation here in front of all these people.â You dried the tears that started to fall from your cheeks with the back of your hands.
Roger started to look around, scanning the area and then took again your hand leading you inside a room. Once he turned on the light you could see you were inside a bathroom and Roger locked the door behind him. âRogâ you sighed only wanted to go away. âStop it, you need to go home.â
âYou are my home (Y/N), canât you understand it?â he looked at you and you could see that tears were falling down from his eyes too. âIâm lost without you, Iâm not the same person anymore. I need you to keep going on, nothing makes sense without you.â
âRoger-â
âPlease, please tell me what I have to do to have you back in my life.â He was begging you.
âYou know what you have to do.â And with that, with your heart broken, you walked past him leaving the party.
*******
You havenât left your home for three days after the most horrible Freddieâs party you have ever been at. However you couldnât blame it on him, he told you what to do to avoid a catastrophe but you decided to listen to your stupid heart.
You were watching the umpteenth stupid love movie again when your bell rang âOne secondâ you said as you turned off the television.
A second rang.
âIâm coming.â You almost yelled walking to the hall.
âFredâ You said while opening the door, âI told you on the phone that you didnât need to come here-â but it wasnât Freddie the other person who was standing in front of you. It was Roger, and he had a suitcase with him.

March - September 1974
You moved back to your shared flat with Roger after that night at the Rainbow. You would be lying, though, if you told that things were easy. It took Roger a long time to gain your trust again but he tried hard to win you back. There wasnât a single day where he didnât think about how to show you that he still loved you more than anyone else and you were the only one in his life.
The first night was the worst, you both missed each other and you thought that you could get over on the fact that he cheated on you, but you couldnât be more wrong. When you stepped in your flat you were all over him, kissing him, holding him, afraid that you could lose him again. You quickly made your way to the bed but, as Roger made love to you there was only one thing in your mind: he having sex with other girls. You tried to delete those thoughts from your mind but you just couldnât. When he was moving back and forth over you, you had to close your eyes because all you could see was he doing the same thing with a groupie. When your fingertips pressed on his biceps you wondered if they did the same. And when his hands ran up your back you questioned if he touche those girls like he used to do with you. When you finished Roger opened his arms for you to cuddle like you usually did, it was your aftercare but you sat up âIâm going to take a showerâ you said softly.
âWant me to join you?â Roger asked looking at you walking away from the bed.
âIâd rather do it aloneâ
You never turned off his offer of showering together, it was actually your favourite intimate time with him. But not that night. You needed that shower to wash away all those feelings and all those thoughts. The water stream hit your skin as you were sat on the shower floor, your knees against your chest and you couldnât help but cry. Sobs coming out from your mouth and Roger heard every single one of them, his heart broke and he was the only one to blame.
He wanted to show you that he could still make you happy, that he still loved you more than anyone else.
He took you to places he knew you loved, he took you to nice picnics in the park. Â
âSo you do know how to cookâ you chuckled as you sat down on the blanket.
âI actually got some takeawayâ Roger chuckled and played with your hair as you laid your head on his legs. âSorry about that.â
âItâs fine, better than starving or getting killed by your cookingâ you joked.
And to the studio where he was recording some new songs with the guys.
âWhat do you think about that?â Roger asked as he played the drums.
âI like it, but shouldnât you ask it to your bandmates?â you asked looking at him through your camera before taking a picture.
âI think your opinion is more valuable.âÂ
âDonât say bullshit.â You say as you switched to your video camera and started to make a video of all the boys discussing the new song.
And when everyone else left he called you over to his drum set, you sat on his lap and he made you play, both of you laughing for how bad you were.
âI love youâ he whispered as his lips left some kisses on your neck.
âI love you tooâ you turned around facing him, that was the first time you said that after the breakup, and a heavy weight lifted from your heart. After that, that night the drumkit wasnât the only thing that Roger banged.
He came with you to art galleries.
âYou know, sometimes I wonder if the artist really wanted to instil some hidden meaning or he just simply felt like painting a landscape and thatâs it.â He commented while looking at a painting, his chin rested on your shoulder and his arms around your waist.
âYeah, I guess that most of the time they only wanted to show how amazing the view was and thatâs itâ you chuckled as your hand reached for his cheek and stroke it softly.
You loosened up again, you tried to build again the trust relationship you had with Roger and slowly you managed to do it.
Still Roger felt like your relationship wasnât the same, it didnât matter how hard he tried, you werenât the old Roger and Penny anymore. You still didnât want to move out from your flat, you wanted to wait, to be sure before renting a new place and that made him worry. He was afraid that you didnât want to move out because you still was doubting your relationship, that you thought you wouldnât last long enough.Â
He needed your old relationship back and, one day, he knew exactly what he had to do to make you remember who you were and all the good things you had.
âIâm homeâ you said walking in your flat and taking your shoes off.
âIâm here loveâ Rogerâs head popped up from the couch and you couldnât help but chuckle.Â
âHelloâ you made your way to the couch and bent down to be at his level, you cupped his cheeks and then kissed him âI missed youâ you mumbled against his lips. Between your job and Roger being at the studio, you didnât see each other too much during that week and you found yourself missing him more than you thought you would. You were upset when, some mornings, you would wake up to an empty space next to you in bed. You felt alone when a night Roger couldnât be at home for dinner and you had to watch tv all alone and didnât have anyone to talk about your day. With each year passing by you came to learn that Roger was part of every small piece of your daily life and you realise that you were empty without him. For someone, it would have been seen as a lack of personality or as a way too strong attachment to a person. But you knew who you are, Roger didnât change who you wanted to be, he was just an additional part that made yourself better.
âHard day at work?â he asked once you laid down next to him, your head on his chest as his strong arm was around your shoulders and his fingers played with your locks.
âWorstâ you replied looking up at him âMy boss is an asshole, I canât stand him anymore.â Your hand slid inside his shirt which had, as usual, its first buttons undone. Your fingertips drew some lines on his skin and then reached his necklaces and started to play with them.
âYou know, maybe I can ask if you can become Queenâs personal photographer. We always have someone who takes photos of us at any gig and now that we have serious tours and weâre earning good money from our albums I think itâs about time we get a photographer.â
âWonât you get tired of having me always around?â you chuckled
âNever.â He smiled looking down at you.
For a second you thought about being always with Roger would have meant, what being twenty-four hours per day with him would have been. Even though you have spent years with him you both had your own amount of hours alone and now, if youâd became his photographer you wouldnât have to spend any time apart. Would that really be a good thing for your relationship? Well, there surely would have been a plus, you could keep an eye on him and his groupie.Â
âI have a surprise for youâ Roger snapped you out from your thoughts.
âDo you?â you grinnedÂ
âHmmhâ he nodded smiling and from the small table next to the couch he took an envelope and handed it to you.
You frowned while sitting up and taking it âDid you write me a letter?âÂ
âJust open itâ Roger laughed lightly nodding towards you and encouraging you on opening his present.
You slowly did as he told you and once you peeked inside you found two train tickets. Taking them out you read where the destination was âTruroâ you almost whispered, a smile appearing on your face.
âWe havenât spent time being only the two of us in the recent six months. We always had so much work to do and I thought it would have been nice to spend the weekend away and maybe you would have liked to go back to our old Cornwallâ he explained âIâve already talked with my mom and we can sleep at her house and of course Iâve also talked with your father and we can also stay at his place so you can spend some time with your family. I thought it would have been nicer than staying at some hotel, but if you prefer booking a room just for the two of us I can book it.âÂ
You shook your head still smiling âItâs perfectâ You sat on his lap and you kissed him deeply holding him close to you âThank you Rog.â
*******
âItâs so nice to finally have you back hereâ Winifred, Rogerâs mother, said as you were sat on the couch drinking some tea with her. âFinally itâs not me who have to travel all the way to London.â She chuckled sipping on her cup.
âWith Roger being a rockstar we never have so much time to make a visit here.â You explained smiling. âWe hardly saw each other this week. But itâs good to finally be back home, even though itâs just for the weekend.â
âHave you already seen your father?â
âYes, we paid him a visit and he told me about tonight.â
âOh yes, I hope you donât mind that I invited him over. I thought it would have been nice to have everyone here for dinner.â
âOf course I donât mindâ You said as you put your cup on the coffee table âIn this way, I donât have to run back and forth between my house and yours.â You chuckled.
âAre you ladies done with all this gossiping?â Roger asked smiling as he walked into the living room. âHope you werenât talking about me.â
âWho knowsâ you joked looking up at him.
âCome onâ he chuckled offering his hand for you.
You smile taking it and get up from the couch.
âSo, where are we going?â you ask walking to his car.
âIt's a surpriseâ Roger smiles still not leaving your hand. When you open the car door you see some blankets on the back seats and a basket with some food. âWeâre going to the beach!â You almost yelled for how excited you were. It was yours and Roger favourite place back to when you were teenagers. You always spent time there, after school, when you skipped school, when you wanted to stay alone and escape from anyone else, bringing along some wine and getting drunk. You always did your picnics there, it didn't matter whether it was spring, summer, autumn or winter. Maybe winter was the season you loved the most, you loved taking pictures of Roger as the wind messed with his hair and the tip of his nose became red because of the tip of his nose. His favourite season to go over, though, was summer. Because any time you found an abandoned spot, with no one around, you would just lay there topless and Roger would always snap a picture of you reading a box, staring at the water. And when the evening came closer you would always skinny dip in the water.
âSo, did order some takeaway?â You joked laying down on the blanket.
âActually I cooked something while you were still sleepingâ he smirked and puffed his chest in a funny way âWell, my mom helped but still.â
You couldn't help but laugh as you opened your blouse taking it off. You held yourself up on your elbows as you stood there in your bra and shorts, eyes closed facing at the sun. âI missed this place so much.â You mumbled and you felt your boyfriendâs lips tracing a line of kisses down your shoulders. âYou're not going to flash me like the old eighteen you would have done?â he giggled against your flesh.
âThere are kids aroundâ
âBet they've already seen a pair of titsâ he bit the strap of your bra.
âNot mine and they wonât see it todayâ you chuckled pushing his head lightly.
You closed your eyes again, enjoying the music produced by the waves on the shore when you heard the sound of the click of a camera. âThatâs my cameraâ you chuckled not opening your eyes.Â
âI knowâ Roger chuckled âBut the sun just hits you in all the right spots and you look so beautiful.â
âI think I just got diabetesâ you giggled and laid down cuddling in his embrace. âMy dad told me to stop by his shop whenever weâve got time.â You then said as your fingers traced his exposed skin. âHeâs got a new box of vinyl for us to take back home in London.â Since you could think, your father had always brought you home vinyl of new bands or new records from famous musicians, anything new that would come in his shop. Thatâs how youâve always been updated in music, and when you and Roger moved to London, he didnât fail to mail you the vinyl every week.
********
You were all sat at the table of Rogerâs house having dinner, talking about all the new cities you and Rog have visited, about you possibly becoming the bandâs new photographer, about whatâs the next country you would love to go when your father decided to bring up a topic you thought have already been clarified âSoâ he started putting some more food in his plate. âYouâve been together for almost ten years.â
You nodded and sighed already knowing what he was about to say.
âAnd I still donât see any ring on your finger.â
âDad.â You hissed âI thought I already told you what I think.â
âPenny, youâre not seventeen anymore. You still havenât changed your mind?â he retorted under the silent gaze of Winifred who didnât dare to say her opinion.
âI didnât want to get married then I wonât get married now.â You felt Rogerâs hand laid on your tight as his thumb slowly stroked it through your jeans. âItâs just a stupid sign on a stupid paper.â
*******
âI canât believe he really asked about that againâ you said as kept pacing back and forth in Rogerâs old bedroom. âAs if he didnât know that we donât want to get married. What was he expecting with that remark? For you to get down on your knee just right there?â you groaned putting your hands through your hair. âAre you even listening to me?â You looked at Roger who was searching for God even knows what. He started to look through the blankets you used at the beach, through the box of vinyl, he moved some bags âFound itâ he then smiled widely holding a record.
âWell, thank you for confirming that you werenât listening to a single thing I was saying.â
âSorry loveâ he moved closer and pecked your lips. âBut I had to find my last surprise.âÂ
âAnother one?â you frowned looking at him.
âYou could show more enthusiasmâ He replied while he walked to the record player. âI hoped your father still had this one and when I found it at the shop today I just couldnât help but buy it.â He explained while putting the vinyl on and just after that When a Man Loves a Woman by Percy Sledge started to play.
Goosebumps started to form on your arms, you remember perfectly the memory linked to that song. It was in 1966, when you and Roger both were seventeen. You were working at your dadâs shop and it was almost closing time when Rog showed up to keep you company. As usual, he was looking through the records when he then walked to the deck and When a Man Loves a Woman echoed around the room. He quickly was by your side and laid his hands on your hips âDance with meâ he whispered in your ear.Â
âPeople could walk inâ you chuckled trying to pull away but he held you close âNo one willâ he mumbled and started to slow dance laying his forehead against your temple. âI give you everything I've got, trying to hold on to your precious love, baby please don't treat me badâ he sang along as your arms were wrapped around his neck and your eyes closed, savouring the moment. âDonât ever break my heart Penny, I love you too much.â
And just like eight years ago, now you were dancing to that song, lost in his touch, in the song, in the moment.
âIâm not like your momâ Roger said while holding you.
âWhat?â you frowned looking up at him.
âIâm not like her, I wonât run away from you.â
You look at him not knowing why he was saying those things.
âI know why you donât want to get married. You are afraid of what your mother did and you donât want that to happen again. But Iâm keen on marrying you if you need a proof that I only want you.â
âRogâ you sighed softly. âI donât need you to put a ring on my finger. I thought you already knew itâÂ
âLately I feel like I should. I donât know what I should do to prove that itâs always me, Iâm still the old Roger. We are not the same anymore, weâre different and Iâm scared of losing youâ
Your fingers playing with his hair, your eyes not leaving his ones. âI canât tell you that everything will like before, because something changed in our relationship. But we will make through it, itâs us Roger, we went through so many shit in our lives and we will make through this too. I love you and I will never stop, thatâs what matters. It doesnât matter if weâre having a dark time, I will fight for us. Because you are the only person I want in my life.âÂ
Thatâs when you felt Rogerâs lips on yours making you feel all the love he had for you. You held him closer, running your fingers through his blonde locks without breaking the kiss. His hands started to unbutton your sundress as he slowly walked backwards to the end of his bed. And when you were on his lap, when his lips left kisses on your body, when he thrust into you, when your hands held his ones, when his fingertips were pressed against your back tracing invisible lines, when he kept whispering softly how much he loved you; for the first time after all those months you didnât think about those women he had sex with. When his hands were on your skin he was touching you, when you were making love he was making love to you. After all that time it was finally only the two of you.
