thank youuuu for tagging me @loglady1980 - i love books!!! would love to read one again someday.
the last book i read - taking this to mean the last book i finished, which was the light years by elizabeth howard (and i recommend it, it's wonderful!).
a book i'd recommend - the pretender by jo harkin (funny, tragic, visceral, about a boy taken from his family and raised as a pretender to the throne of henry vii).
a book i couldn't put down - when i first read the goldfinch, i spent a whole day and night into the next day reading it, because i couldn't bear to stop and sleep.
a book i've read twice or more - difficult, as i'm not really a re-reader ... there's a lot of books i would like to re-read, but there's also so much i want to read for the first time. i think i've read tinker, tailor, soldier, spy, by john le carré, more than once.
a book on my tbr - like, hundreds. either/or, by elif batuman.
a book i've put down - i picked up the raven scholar by antonia hodgson this past week, hoping that it would be a kind of fun, escapist, fantasy read ... but it's written like watching a cartoon. no interiority. it's put me off buying anything like that again tbh.
a book on my wishlist - the starving saints by caitlin starling. i'm waiting for it to come out in paperback.
a favourite book from childhood - howl's moving castle by diana wynne jones. i listen to the audiobook or read the hard copy every year or so. kind of the perfect romantasy, when you deep it.
a book i'd give to a friend - august blue by deborah levy. inspired me to start writing something a few years ago. i find her writing so magnetic, elliptical, deceptively simple - would also easily recommend her living autobiography series.
a book of poetry or lyrics that i own - bright dead things by ada límon, of course. selected poems by frank o'hara.
a non-fiction book that i own - doppelgänger by naomi klein (on audio ... i'm not a great nonfic reader tbh, although i would really like to find a well-written history of/about the cold war that isn't us-centric).
what i'm currently reading - what am i, a deer? by polly barton (i've been reading it for a while, broken up by the terrible fantasy book ... really love it, i'm just in a weird reading space at the moment where i struggle to finish anything).
what i'm planning on reading next - in ascension, by martin macinnes.
