So I’m playing through Megaman Battle Network 5 in Japanese, and I came across Chaud’s Japanese name for the first time. It’s 炎山 (enzan), or the kanji for “blaze” and the kanji for “mountain”. What a dweeby name. Although, I got on the Megaman wiki to get the right pronunciation of this fake name, and I found out that apparently “Chaud” is a pun: I guess it’s “fire” in French.

On the topic of names that are puns, while I was poking around the Megaman wiki, I found out Hub’s name is 彩斗, pronounced “saito”, or, you know, “site”. Fucking Yuuichirou Hikari had twin boys and he’s like “hmm what to name them.. I know, I’ll name one ‘Net’, like as in internet, and the other we’ll call ‘Site’, as in website. Perfect!!!!”
