Home -- Wolffe/Comet + Wrecker -- Fic Roulette
I'm finally getting to these! Sorry it's been so long, but with the blog transitioning and going fulltime at my job, things have been hectic. But! Here's to hoping I can start putting myself out in the fandom again.
I took a few liberties with this one. It's more Wolffe/Comet than anything, but I had a lot of fun and feels with it. And I wrote it in 20 minutes for a warm up. So if it's bad I'm sorry, LOL!
Warning: character death and angst.
Wrecker + Comet = "Come here."
He hasnât been back on Kamino since he completed his ARC training, which doesnât seem like it was all that long ago, but at the same time, it feels like itâs been an eternity. Things are different now, darker than they used to be. Even with his bucket sealed and kama situated perfectly at his hips, his mind races without the guidance of his commander or his Jedi.
Cometâs breathing is sharp, ragged as he tries to catch his breath standing still. His head is swimming with images of desperately searching for General Koon, but he doesnât know why? To kill him? To save him? And where is Wolffe? Oh stars, where is he? He needs to stop and relax, but this assembly is jarring, and his head is splitting in pain. He just wants to go home, back to how things used to be.
...How did things used to be?
The assembly must be over, because suddenly everyone is marching. Comet tries to follow, because good soldiers follow orders, but his feet feel like heâs been trekking through the mud on an endless campaign. He groans, and his mouth moves to call for someone, maybe Sinker or Boost, maybe Wolffe, but nothing comes out.
âHey! Whatâs with ya?!â
Thick arms catch him before he hits the ground, and heâs thankful, but he canât seem to find his footing long enough to be stable. He distantly hears someone say to take off his bucket, but he shakes his head. He doesnât want anyone to see him like this. Through the pain, heâs able to make out a face. He sort of recognizes the man staring back at him, a clone, but he doesnât look like an ordinary brother. Comet seems to know that this man is from Clone Force 99, the special task force. He never thought heâd live to see any of them in person. Theyâre legends now after their help with the 501st on Anaxes.
âCan you hear me?â the big guy asks, and the scar on his face crinkles with concern as he easily sets him on the ground in the assembly hall.
âWhatâs your name?â he questions, and Comet can hear others around him, maybe the rest of his squad, but heâs the only one that he can see, so heâs the only one that matters. Maybe he has answers as well as questions.
âC...Comet,â he rasps, and he cringes at the sound of his own voice. âWh-Where is...my Commander? W-WolffeâŠ?â
Thereâs a beat of silence before Comet gets an answer. âComet, my nameâs Wrecker. What happened to your Commander?â
Comet frowns. If Wrecker doesnât know, then that must meanâŠ
âH-HeâsâŠâ Comet hiccups and hot tears press to his eyes. He wonât say dead. Wolffe isnât dead. He canât be, but he feels it in his bones that there canât be any other explanation why he isnât here with him, and it hurts. It hurts so much that the pain is dull and the blinding light in his eyes from the headache seems almost comforting.
âHey, hey! Comet! Stay with us, buddy! Weâre going to get you some help!â Wrecker is whispering, but maybe heâs shouting. It doesnât matter.
âHeâs waiting for me,â Comet says, and a wistful smile tugs on his lips as someone finally tugs off his bucket. âI miss himâŠmy cyare.â
âComet? Comet!â Wrecker whispers, or maybe itâs Wolffe. Yes, itâs definitely Wolffe looking at him now, eye soft as he holds his arms out for him.
âCome here, pup,â Wolffe commands, and itâs an order that Comet canât help but follow as he floats into his chest. âYouâre home now.â
Comet smiles. The galaxy around him falls away as he tucks himself into Wolffeâs chest and finally he can breathe again.
âHome,â Comet sighs as his chin is lifted for his lips to be captured. âItâs good to be home.â
