Black Mamas Matter Alliance
It’s Day 3 of Black Breastfeeding Week is til August 31. It’s been many moons since I breastfeed. #flashbackfriday But I still remember what it felt like to struggle with breastfeeding and feeling like I didn’t know what the hell I was doing. 😩 Fun Fact: Before I pursued art heavily, I was a breastfeeding peer counselor in the Washington DC area. I would go to the homes of other Black Mamas and support them with breastfeeding. I started this work because with my eldest son I had many breastfeeding challenges. This is a fond memory with my youngest son who made me feel like a professional breastfeeding mom! 😊 I am no longer going to homes but through my art I will to support #blackmamas feel seen and get the support they need in the Boston area! 📸 @bykuroji You can start bidding, make a donation or buy art now. Proceeds go to @vitalvillage Available at: www.32auctions.com/BBFWBos22 Link on my website too in BIO! This limited edition digital illustration was created in hopes to bring more awareness to Black Breastfeeding Week sometimes in the black community there are different thoughts and narratives about breastfeeding. I wanted to share the natural beauty of Black Women who do breastfeed and for those that wanted to breastfeed but may not have been able to for various factors. I am uplifting those voices and women through this artwork. Last year's goal was almost reached with your loving support we raised a total of $285 that went directly to Vital Village. Let's set the bar higher together! Currently making available 3 limited edition prints for a buy now the value of $225. Don't want to buy the art right now, simply make a donation to support mothers and their infants. 11x14 professional archival print #zntarts #artauction #artfromtheheart #bostonartist #illustrator #digitalart #digitalillustration #digitalartist #artistsoninstagram #artistsofinstagram #blackbreastfeedingweek2022 #blackmomsbelike #blackmamasmatter #blackbreastfeeding #naturalbirth #breastfeedingjourney #breastfeedingart #artfundraiser #breastfeedingadvocate #breastfeedingpeercounselor #breastfeedpeersupport #ultrablack https://www.instagram.com/p/ChtvkmjOEL3/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
About last night… Letting go🌞 Finding my balance🌗 Finding my strength 💪🏾 Leaning into magical moments 💫 with beautiful mamas… This is what love looks like This is what healing looks like This is what motherhood looks like This is what safe space looks like This is what joy looks like #Repost @tanyaohtanya ・・・ Liberation: The act of setting someone free from imprisonment, slavery, or oppression; a release. In part two of Un-ADULT-erated Black Joy: Black Mamas Fly we had some epiphanies about life, circus and liberation. One mama said while attempting to climb into the #aerialhoop that she can do hard things, another mama said that she thought it was going to be easy but it wasn't and all we asked of her is to try, so why not just try? Another mama said that she need to be more present. Me? I need to get out of my head and let my own self be great. Cuz when I do? I surprise my own damn self. Circus is liberation #unadulteratedblackjoy #blackmamas #circus All photos by @tess_scheflan who entered a black curated space with respect, sisterhood and grace.
