Last Night was the Opening Night of Women’s History Month “The Space She Holds”
On exhibit 3/15 till 4/4 @ 108 Marcy Ave, Brooklyn MA the curators selected a beautiful range of art mediums that reflect the current times and theme!
Much success and many more opportunities to all of the talented and exceptional artists that are a part of this exhibition.
When I am not drawing and painting, I am writing, when I am not writing I am doing something else creative, teaching or just living life because at times life is art it’s self.

Within these bricks is housed memories
each piece stuck together by the hopes and dreams of yesterday
Layered in laughter and sometimes regret
Barrel burners sparked up the bbq
A constant stream of charcoal floats through the air
Uncles are over there smiling and profiling
Aunties are waving hey now and styling
The pavement feels hotter than the Saharan desert sun
Hop scotch one,two,three, pit pat, jelly sandals slap the ground in beat
Old telephone wires longer than a mile find their way on scene
Remixed is the rhythm of the ding dong as feet and long beaded braids make their musical debut on the double dutch line
Red icy’s from the neighborhood icy lady on the 3rd flo
Big wheels and tricycles zoom by fast watch yo step
Gone is penny candy at the corner sto
Recollections of summer time fine
Thee epitome of black girl magic
Vaselined are the knees and elbows
Bobbles intertwined with plaited strands
Music from the boom box on the stoop is the soundtrack to this life
This is your reminder to cherish the NOW rather than LATER”
