fyi lesbian horror writer & critic sara century (who you may know from her guest appearances on the cerebro podcast) has a new zine out where she analyzes portrayals of lesbian vampires in film, television, and literature. it’s available in both print & digital, though i believe the print run is pretty limited so if you’re interested i’d order it sooner rather than later. you can order it from her gumroad here!
edit: i believe sara moved her shop to squarespace, so you can now buy her zines here:

I hate when a movie has a teenager find an unlikely home in a group of misfits who accept them for who they are and teach them to embrace their differences and they become really good friends only for it to end in the friend group trying to kill them at the end. Why does this always happen???
Bit (2019) is, as far as I’m concerned, a conceptually perfect movie. A trans girl is drawn into a coven of man-hating vampire lesbians. It’s like somebody adapted a screenplay from my deepest fantasies.
Is the execution perfect? No, but I think it’s still worth watching. I’d say my number one complaint is that most of the coven doesn’t get enough focus. Like, there’s only four of them. We can devote some time to them instead of the protagonist’s brother.
Also, it should’ve been hornier. Like, girl, it’s about vampires. They should be passing the new girl around like a blunt. I never got the impression the girls were constantly having crazy sex, and, at that point, why even be a vampire? Actually, make that my number one complaint.
