Salsa galactica is my favorite album by Bio Ritmo and this is my favorite song off that album. I can listen to it over and over again.
I love the band Bio Ritmo. They are a newer group, and I’ve heard them called “experimental” salsa, but in many ways they still sound very traditional, like the old salsa bands of the 70′s, with more traditional percussion, and little influence from pop music. Instead of becoming more “soft” sounding, like the “salsa romantica” genre, this band keeps the more traditional sound of “salsa dura”, but innovates with a combination of jazzy interludes and the weaving of new, electronic sounds into the music.
This song is probably one of their more traditional-sounding songs, but it still sounds fresher and crisper than some of the old 70′s salsa. I love that there are bands still making music in this style because it’s one of my favorite types of music ever.

This afternoon, for Second Sundays on Fourth (SSO4), we had a great crowd. It was a very hot day but that didn’t keep approximately 2,000 people from showing up.
