"It's not a big sacrifice".
UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese tells Mohammed Hassan that she has closed her AirBnb and Booking.com accounts because of their complicity in the occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The two companies have been accused of allowing users to list properties in illegal settlements on their websites.
In an interview with The Big Picture Podcast, Albanese talks about a report she published exposing what she describes as "economy of genocide", highlighting more than 60 companies directly or indirectly working with Israel's military in Gaza and the West Bank. The companies include Google, Amazon, Barclays, Hyundai and Airbnb.
Following the release of the report, the Trump Administration placed the UN Special Rapporteur under US sanctions, accusing her of waging "economic warfare" against US companies.
