I love Cobra Kai but people totally miss the message of what Johnny's version of the dojo stands for.
Cobra Kai is not strong because of their 'aura' or aggressive attitudes, but because of the emotional strength they have. Johnny, Miguel, and Tory have gone through so much shit and yet each of them end up with wonderful things: Johnny has a family, Miguel is going to his dream university, Tory is on her way to becoming a millionaire.
Cobra Kai was never about physical strength. Neither was Karate Kid.
I still think even the show got a little bit lost with it's own messages sometimes but the point still stands that neither dojo is shown to have true strength through aggression.
Miyagi Do shows strength through not being people who actively seek out fights. They can make the move on their opponent but they never do it with the mentality of either of Silver's dojos.
Cobra Kai is about growth and acceptance and grief and strength. Not who can kick the hardest.
Man, do I hope this show gets some meaningful extended media where the message can seep into many other aspects of life, such as change or bigotry, allowing us to see the true lessons everyone learnt from the unnecessary karate war.
