Best friends since early childhood, Isuri and Bill share one of the closest bonds in the series. The two balance each other out well, with Bill being calm and steady where Isuri is anxious, and Isuri being protective and caretaking where Bill can sometimes lose himself in serving others. Some say their compatibility comes from being Infrans of the Moon and Water, respectively, though Isuri disagrees.

A head taller, Bill stood next to her, skinny and red-haired with a pale, freckled face and a long nose. His blue tunic was unobtrusive and nearly matched the rings in his sea-green eyes, illuminative after an afternoon of using his abilities as the Infran of Water to heal the sick and injured. He smiled softly, looking at Isuri like she’d hung every star in the sky, but that was nothing new.

With his gangly limbs, fiery red hair and freckles, there wasn’t much family resemblance, but he had the same narrow face and long nose, and he had the same green eyes Jamie had, even if his were much happier. Janet was laughing at something he had said when they walked in, and Bill looked extremely pleased with himself.

...then Janet and Bill exchanged a look, before they stepped up together...

Ally ignored her, and focused on her breathing. In and out. The way Bill had taught her.

“You don’t get it. He hasn’t been this happy since Dearborn died. He does his best not to let it show, but…” Janet gnawed on her bottom lip. “She really was his mother, you know. There’s so many nights when he crawls into my bed and I just have to hold him, because he’s had a nightmare, or something, and he just...he can’t be alone. He can’t stop crying. I can’t—he’s always been whatever I’ve needed, he’s always been there.”

Bill turned as red as his hair. “I’m fifteen tomorrow, sir.”
