Last fall Lynn gave all the girls at work some clippings from a plant that she got from her (I think) grandfather’s plants. I took some home and made an attempt to pot it. Given my lack of a green thumb, I apparently did not do it right. Dennis and I texted almost every day. And he went by to let the pups out every day at lunch. One of the last texts he sent me was to let me know he re-potted them for me. Without asking, without my request, without even thinking about it. It was just the kind of thing he did for me. He saw something that needed to be done for me and just did it. Mainly because he knew that I’d rather simply cut off my arm than admit I needed any help, even for (or especially for) something so small. I pass that plant every day on my porch and it never fails to bring a smile to my face. It’s blooming and overflowing all because he took 5 minutes out of his day to make me smile. That’s a pretty stellar dude.
