I've been reading a few of your kind-of-metas and I love them. It's interesting how you're more like Sansa in real life but a bigger fan of Arya, because I'm the exact opposite. Maybe there's a pattern to it... anyway! That's not why I'm here. You mentioned your favourite relationship was Arya & Sansa and, as I adore both of them, I would love to hear all about it (or at least be shown where you've talked about them before).
There might be! Iâve read before that some people reject fictional characters that remind them of themselves because itâs like a mirror. But, for me, I relate so much to Sansa because we have a lot of similar features (Iâm such a people pleaser, idealistic, prone to trusting everyone/the wrong people, ect.)
Part of why I like Sansa/Arya so much is I am one of three sisters; one older by a year and one younger by two years, much of Sansa and Aryaâs relationship resonates with me. I remember being 11/9 with my sisters, we acted like we hated each other. In fact, I think we actually believed we did. Iâm so close to them now though. And being both the older and younger sister, I relate to both Arya and Sansaâs feelings.Â
Iâve talked about them a fair deal (you can check my âstark sisters metaâ tag) but hereâs some specific stark sistersâ meta:
Sansa/Arya and their fates paralleled by their direwolves
Sansa and Arya love each other
Their relationship was strained, but itâs neither fault
Sansa/Arya mentor parallels
queenâofâthorns has some good Stark sistersâ meta as well like this one also on Sansa/Aryaâs mentor parallels. And then she has her âLittle Arya & Sansa Thingsâ, which is not a meta but awesome still.
And some more quote parallels:Â
That was what knights did; they kept you safe, especially women. Â Arya, ACoK
Knights are sworn to defend the weak, protect women, and fight for the right.Sansa, ACoK
And both become disabused of this notion quickly enough.Â
Joffteyâs dead! She knew it ought to make her happy, but somehow she still felt empty inside. Joffrey was dead, but if Robb was dead too, what did it matter? Arya, ASoS
Joffrey was dead, he was dead, he was dead, dead, dead. Why was she crying, when she wanted to dance? Were they tears of joy?âŚThe gods are just, thought Sansa. Robb had died at a wedding feast as well. It was Robb she wept for.  Sansa, ASoS
Extremely similar reactions to Joffreyâs death by both of them and the connection to Robb leaving their supposed âjoyâ or âhappinessâ hollow.
âŚhis stupid fat pouty lipsâŚÂ Arya on Joffrey, ACoK
âŚthose fat wormy lipsâŚÂ Sansa on Joffrey, ASoSÂ
Silly parallel but still.
Sansa and Aryaâs journeys really parallel each otherâs in many ways as well. I should really do an in depth analysis of how.
