Penstemon digitalis
Fox glove beard tounge or common great white Penstemon
For most bumble bees this is a nectar boone, while most other species are not blooming in the forbe layer in early June in open prairie this species provides the most nectar on average to bumble bees overall,( more than false indigo and spiderwort. Unfortunately, smaller Bombus spp. are really the only group of pollinators that set seed, the rest tend to be nectar theifs. In the photos above we have an example of that.
As for a native garden or garden in general, I highly recommend planting this species; you can’t go wrong, It’s a species that does well in both fens(wet always to submerged part of the season) and gravel beds where moisture is consistantly a scarce rescource unless its a creek gravel bar. This species does not take sand blasting well though.
