After a recent tumble, my crocheting is on hold. Glad there are plenty of able-bodied crochet bloggers like Zeens and Roger who keep the ideas coming.

Finding the target
Haven't been too inspired lately, but just had to share this latest from Martin Up North. Gorgeous work. I don't think I could ever do this, but maybe you can!
Thrift store yarn
I often see yarn in the craft section of Goodwill or other thrift stores. Sometimes it’s with a WIP, other times it still has the original label and appears to have never been used. For the record, I shop at thrift stores regularly and do not suffer from the “ick” feeling mentioned in Darleen’s post (link below). I almost always wash the clothing I buy, but admittedly steer clear of underwear,…

Stunning reblog
Commissions and special orders? I'm usually hesitant to agree to a special order because of one bad experience. This time, however, everything turned out great. Here's my story and a couple of links.
“If you love something that somebody does—some art, some words, some sounds—you tell them that you love it. You tell everyone how much you love it, repeatedly and enthusiastically. Don’t save your appreciation for later, or worry about wearing people out with your passion. Because the happy truth is this: If a piece of art truly moves you, you will never, ever run out of new adjectives to express how much you love it. Getting to love someone’s art is one of the very finest parts of being alive.”

Fabled author Ursula Le Guin had a sign over her desk: Is it true? Is it necessary or at least useful? Is it compassionate or at least unharmful? Not a bad place to begin.

On the Cost of "Enlightenment"
“Write the story that you were always afraid to tell. I swear to you that there is magic in it, and if you show yourself naked for me, I’ll be naked for you. It will be our covenant.” — Dorthy Allison OK, Dorothy, here I go Today over pancakes, I was regaling my husband with one of my many regrets and less-than-great moments. I can’t even remember what it was about, but he is used to this from…

My Practice for Now
Writing regularly is a discipline like any other craft. Making time, sitting without inspiration, and plunging ahead with few ideas is the name of the game. Will it be perfect? No. Publishable, not likely. Yet, we still have to carry on and see what happe

Seeing clearly when things are murky
Hello friends! Finally got motivated to work on an old post. Hope you find it interesting.
One of my favorite Buddhist teachers – Pema Chodron – talks about meeting your edge again and again. This refers to all the times we struggle through fear, discomfort, self-loathing, anger–you name it. The things that keep us awake at night, asleep during the day and anxious about who we are. Sometimes it’s messy, confusing and painful to be fully present in our own lives. I’m not saying I am…
