A sign has gone up in front of the most expensive home in B.C. – the waterfront mansion owned by Lululemon founder Chip Wilson – calling the provincial NDP "communist." The property at 3085 Point Grey Rd., which is in NDP Leader David Eby's riding, was most recently assessed at $81,765,200. "Eby will tell you the Conservatives are 'far right,' but neglects saying that the NDP is ‘communist," the sign says. The New Democrat government brought increased taxes on homes assessed at over $3 million in 2018 and has also increased income tax on the top two per cent of earners, moves Eby defended when asked about the sign Thursday.

To everyone in BC right now: godspeed. I'm sorry half the population seems to want to elect conspiracy theorist racist cons, I hope they don't become a majority gov and y'all stay orange. 😭
BC election night moodboard
If y’all need some somewhat good election news: the BC NDP in BC, Canada have just finally been declared to have won a majority government. It is the slimmest of majorities and it took all the way to the judicial (second) recounts to call (our election was the 19th of October) but it’s called. This may actually work out well with the Greens able to have a say (they had some disability policies in their campaign platform).
Things are going badly but they didn’t all go to shit!

Shout out to these 27 people who gave the NDP a majority government again
Either way your planet is doomed.

"Sherry Wilson said the federal system of forcing tens of thousands of First Nations, Inuit and Métis children into the schools was "only allowed to happen because children enrolled in school were isolated from their parents' oversight, input and influence."
She implied there was a parallel between that and the province's original Policy 713 — which allowed 2SLGBTQ+ students to adopt names and pronouns at school without their parents knowing."
And this:

"[Conservative candidate] Rustad said if his party wins the Oct. 19 provincial election, B.C. would partner with First Nations and "unleash the potential" for prosperity through mining, forestry and other resource projects.
He has previously pledged to repeal B.C. legislation adopting the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). Instead, his party said in a release, it would honour the declaration "as it was intended," with laws advancing economic reconciliation and Indigenous autonomy."
