It’s my inherent nature to always penalize myself in different ways when I don’t do something right, when I can’t make that grade mark, or when I fail to meet some standard I uphold. But lately, I’m learning--more along the lines of God is teaching and telling me--that there’s a stark difference between condemning yourself and constructively trying to better yourself via grace and love. Life is supposed to be enjoyed as a precious gift that God has given you to steward for Him (and with that comes not masochistically putting yourself down for every little thing that you think of; in some senses, that shows one’s inability to practice and show grace to your own self). So with that, I’m slowly learning how to take it easy and actually enjoy life as opposed to seeing it as an arduous road of checklists I need to mark. This also may be a justification for my increased spontaneity in wandering around Berkeley alone for the sake of finding rest in solitude from the hullabaloo that prevails on Telegraph. And to think that two years ago, I was dependent on the energy of human surroundings to sustain my vivacity and sanity.
