Baristas are people, and like people, we hate anyone who treats us poorly.

employed and happy
i finally have a job that i love, pays good, doesn’t treat me like shit, gives me good hours, and lets me request off for vacation before i’ve even started training. i’m so happy, i was one of the few people hired out of fifteen people who interviewed. i don’t mean to brag, but i’ve had a hard job search these past four months. it turns out that i’m exactly where i belong. thank you, starbucks!
to anyone who is stuck in a job that they hate and are miserable and are treated like trash - do NOT put up with that shit. the pay is NOT worth your happiness. you WILL find something better and you ARE worth more than their shit and their attitude.
i worked for not even a week at a store (that will be unnamed) that was not only full of racist, ...but also superficial, inconsiderate, foreign assholes who only trained me for ten minutes, and expected me to know everything.
i decided i had had enough and i quit over the phone. those people are NOT worth my time when it could be spent working for people who not only treat me with respect but also understand that i am new and i may not know how to do everything. but with proper training and respect, it will reflect on the turnover rates and the employee happiness levels of the companies. i believe that proper training and RESPECT of your employees is so important. if your employees are genuinely happy they wouldn’t be upset about coming to work everyday at 4 in the morning.
at the one store i worked at that treated me like trash - i left my first day crying in the car on the way home.
i don’t want that, ever. my tears aren’t meant for working for anyone. being employed shouldn’t make you cry and give you so much anxiety that you don’t even want to quit in person. you should find somewhere that will help you with your anxiety…not enhance it!
i realized that working at starbucks was one of the best decisions i have ever made, and i am so happy to be back and to be at a corporate store. i am happy to call everyone i’ve worked with at starbucks my friends and family. i’ve never been happier or felt more at home :) i hope you all find somewhere to work and be able to make a decent salary somewhere that makes you feel the same way i do about a simple coffee chain.
xoxo, c.
It takes every ounce of self control I have not to give customers expired shots because sometimes, my shitty days at work aren't their fault. It's the bullshit upper management that shafts me 9/10 times I work.
