This is my opinion, and it's no attack on anyone in specific (but it was inspired by a specific person who did this constantly), so read on if you dare. It's about my opinion on character death and the only instance it's not okay to resurrect your character.
Don't be an ignorant, attention-seeking fuck face if you decide to kill off your character without some damn good plot reason, then all of a sudden come back alive like "what up, it was actually my twin brother that died. Woe is him/her/them right?"
No, not right. That's fucking dumb. It's entirely dumb. Killing off your character of your own volition without anyone forcing character death on you for any reason is only okay if it's a plot twist/story line. Coming back to life can be a group effort, for gods' sake and that's okay! CAUSE IT HAS A REASON IN THE FUCKING PLOT.
But killing off your character for.. let's see.. your RP partner is inactice. No- gods, just fucking no. Especially if this was done as an attention plea, and 9/10 it is. I have read someone doing that to TWO of their characters. One "dying of a broken heart" (and if you're reading this, I know you lurk on my blog gtfo you specific individual- I only know of this shit cause of people telling me) as their character is being glorified when, from my personal experience, that character was complete shit with morals too contradictory to form a character alignment. The other instance of their killing off their character in one of their infamous attention-seeking-tantrums (they did those a lot and it led to a guild coup) was because no one gave a damn about their story lines anymore because it was all character glorification (their char was constantly the hero/main protagonist/etc. and we all had to go save him every time).
They then came back and said "oh, that was just my twin lol let's go do this story line now" like uhmm NO. That shit's not gonna' fly, asshole.
But then I see them, barely a day after killing off that broken-hearted bad character (they couldn't even RP their class correctly despite knowing how to, and knowing where to get the information on how to so it was ignorance by choice) sitting on a bench. Yeah, you regret that huh? Your IC wife is all inactive and shit and you throw an attention plea of a tantrum for what? To see if she will log on or something? That's guilt-trip in terms of manipulation and you are still being an abusive twat.
Don't kill off your characters just because you want attention, or because you want to punish someone, or because you feel someone else deserves it. No, don't. It's even more stupid bringing them back because you were too stupid and angsty in the first place killing them off. There's a very subjective and broad area for calling someone a bad RPer...
But doing shit like this when we all know it's for attention and no real plot line or story twist whatsoever is douche bagerry at its finest, and you are a shit RPer.
Because you are hurting other people. You are hurting their story. You are not taking into consideration that sudden death without anyone's knowing or for any plot other than you are massively butt hurt is, in my mind, an abusive RPer under the title of manipulator.
