Interesting question regarding message send errors
Have any of you noticed parp just... eating messages recently? I haven't had it happen to me, but we got two reports in one day and according to one of them its relatively frequent. Anyone else? Even if it was just the last few days?
So rolechat.org, which is a site that randomly connects you with other users, has an optional cooldown feature where you won't reconnect to any users you connected to before for 30 minutes. Could this or something similar maybe get added to parp?
That's actually built in- it's not 30 minutes, as far as im aware (im pretty sure its a few minutes, but I'd have to prod Hex because it's on the backend rather than something Mods can just toy with) but it should be on and functioning. A custom user option for it though is pretty smart! I put it on the suggestions sheet.
There has got to be some way to force people to use the word filter, too many people just refuse to use it. And while yes one could block those people that doesn't help if you'd otherwise roleplay with them when not using a specific modifier.
I mean I'd say that you could like, ask. I'm not sure how we'd force people to use it without taking some kind of moderator action- but that's like SUPER overkill.

No PARPDATE this month as per Hex having been on vacation.
What it says on the tin! Hex was, and will be for the next month (I offered an extension due to family stuff on their end and they accepted) on vacation.
That said, no major updates- we kinda knew we were gonna have months similar to this when mxrp proper came back up. Once Hex is back in The Ole Saddle though, they will continue attempting to fix the outstanding issues with parp (the bugged error messages, for example) before moving on to improved functionality and addressing THE REQUEST LIST. Which looks like THIS now:

Contrast adjusters (similar to what was planned for parp2)
Ability to choose between IC / OC starts
Fix the 'Over 18' filter by destroying it (the site is 18+ these days so its just an arbitrary search-splitter) [PRIORITIZED]

Any ETA on the "mark as read" feature? The notification sitting in the corner drives me nuts when the new message is just me disconnecting last.
Presently no ETA, that one is kinda minor compared to fixing broken error messages and stuff. (Plus I made Hex stop working on parp for all of June so no progress has been made)
That said, it'll go quick once we get around to it.
