eeehhhh, I'm so glad you drew some more of this AU because I've had a snippet floating around in my mind for months, and it's motivating me to actually write it :D (as long as you don't mind if I write more on this AU!)

17: If you owned a bookshop what would you call it?

“Luna” something - I’d need someone who knows Latin to help me come up with the full name! :)  I’ve always wanted to have a bookshop/cafe where the primary opening hours are at night.  It just makes so much sense.

35: Name a book you consider to be terribly underrated

Clover by CLAMP.  I try to push the omnibus on people who “don’t read manga” because it has a cinematic, noir feel to it that I think has a far wider appeal than just ‘graphic novel’ would have them assume. The art, the layout, the slightly broken narrative; way the story is told is better than the story.

40: Name one of your favorite books from your teenage years

The Last Sin Eater by Francine Rivers.  I was completely fascinated by the concept, the period of history, and the characters.  I probably read it three times. I think I would still like it if I read it again.

Idk I want to say Slytherin for being so tricksty hiding what was going on with him for so long. Or Ravenclaw….but that’s mostly just for color scheme. Dun wanna fight but LOVE TALKING ABOUT FAI let’s talk about fai. Fai.

I definitely don’t want to fight people for real, okay.  FAI.  All the love. <3  But have you considered:

A) Slytherins do not have a monopoly on lying and there are so many examples in HP of Gryffindors lying through their teeth and hiding things from people.  Gryffindors are a lot of things, but totally honest all the time is NOT ONE OF THEM for sure.

B) Fai is loyal and strong and reckless and friendly and chivalrous and an adrenaline junkie and kind of a stubborn idiot?  He has the ability to be very cunning, but I’ve never really seen him use it for what could be called personal gain or ambition.  He has no desire to have power over other people nor hoard wealth.

Omg, has this au been done (are you doing it right now, was it in the Olympics and I’m an idiot)?? Because if not…

4. what are some themes you love writing about?

There’s like so many things they could possibly study for grad school //handwaves

1. Both of them were complete biology nerds growing up. Kurogane specializes in zoology while Fai in biochemistry.

2. The labs might as well be open 24/7 to the grad students. Now and then they run into each other at the department building at 2 in the morning working hastily on their research and experiments. Week by week, their schedules “somehow” align more and more. Maybe it’s because they think the other are really attractive. Fai wonders how Kurogane fits in time to workout and have such a hot body. Kurogane desperately thinks it’s his sleepiness fooling him to see Fai as a truly handsome man.

3. They cuss in agreement that the scientific method they learned for so long in school, until their undergraduate years, was oversimplified and full of lies.

4. They also cuss/confide in each other over the baloney students in their classes give them. Fai had never been so stern to anyone until he became a TA (among the bajillion of duties being a grad student entailed…also pays off little of his growing student debt). Kurogane recalled the times he gave some of his TAs a hard time in his undergrad years, and felt pangs of remorse. Kurogane also gives hell when his and Fai’s students spread rumors that they are dating. They’ve been for at least six months.

omg no you're not bothering me or anything at all! Very much the opposite! I do plan on writing family snuggles but I wanted to finish a gift fic I was working on so it'll be a little while (knowing me I'll probably work on them at the same time because lol I'm a loser) but I will write something and stick it up for all to enjoy.

22: Do you start with characters or plot?

Characters, usually.  They just come to my head, and they already have a name and a favorite food and a skin color and a religion.  At least, that’s how it often happens.  Sometimes I don’t know them well at first, but they’re already people when I first see them.  I have to spend some time figuring out which of these hundreds of people in my head belong to the same place and time so I can introduce them to each other and see what kind of adventure they go on.

24: What’s your favorite & least favorite part of plotting?

Plotting is stressful, but always fun.  Since I usually have the characters first, I just poke around at their relationships, looking for the reason their story is worth telling.  Who are they?  What do they want?  Why do I care what they want?  Once I figure that out, I can usually see the world shaping around them and making them a part of something bigger than themselves.  The hardest part for me is always just figuring out a timeline.  I tend to know the whole plot and then re-arrange all the events 600 times trying to make the drama build at the right pace. I inevitably groan and weep and finally get to feeling extremely happy with the timeline and write merrily away…. only to realize I have made The Character act on information they haven’t even received yet.  Sigh.
