I dunno if I ever shared this wild story. Back in 2011, I went to watch a special charity auction at Fanime. It was supposed to be just for fun since I wanted to see what live action looks like.

The proceeds were all going to a mutual aid effort a guest, Yokota Mamoru, and his friends in the industry were organizing to provide hot food to people who were impacted by the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. He had items donated by these friends for auction.

One of them was a signed autograph board from Inada-san…

So I spontaneously bid until I won it…

Yokota took pictures of each winner with the item so he could show it to his friends. That’s why I have wondered now and then if Inada did see that picture of me…

But anyhows, 14 years later and I finally get to meet him in person. Tomorrow!!!

I’m finally going to meet Inada-san in person (he’s a guest at LA Comic Con this weekend)
