Most moments fade into a blur, some insist on staying.

The kind of moment that settle into your ribs and leaves fingerprints.

We didn’t know this was a keeping kind of day, only that the air felt lighter and the sea didn’t argue back.

Hands were small, then smaller, and we walked as if time was generous. I wish it was.

I wonder when we stopped believing that together was a direction.

Now the memory walks ahead of me, and I can't seem to catch up.

'Wait for me!' I begged.

Time doesn't wait.

However, you did.

Now, as I lay in your arms, the child born of our love in between us, my eyes soften, and I smile.

"Thank you," I whisper.

"Thank you, for waiting, when no one else had."
