Part 2

The final bell echoed through Eunjang High, and students spilled out of the classrooms like a wave. I stood nervously by the front gate, shifting my weight from one foot to the other, clutching the strap of my backpack tightly.

I hadn’t done this before waiting for him like this, out in the open. But today felt different. I just wanted to walk home with him. Even if Yeon Sieun wasn’t the type to show big emotions, somehow I always felt his quiet care without needing words.

I lifted my head when I spotted him.

There he was walking through the crowd like he didn’t have a single worry in the world. His shirt was slightly untucked, his bag hanging lazily off one shoulder. He looked exhausted

And then, his eyes found mine.

I saw it the faintest tug at the corner of his mouth, almost a smile. My heart skipped a beat.

"Hey," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

Without saying anything, he came right up to me and slipped his hand into mine. His fingers were warm and gentle, his thumb brushing lightly over my knuckles.

God, it made me feel like I could melt right there.

I barely noticed the group nearby until I heard someone whisper a little too loudly."Wait, is that...?" I turned my head slightly and saw them standing there Hu Min, Jun Tae, and Hyun Tak. all standing there like they had seen a ghost.

"That's definitely Yeon Sieun," Jun Tae said, sounding like he couldn’t believe it. "And that's definitely a girl," Hyun Tak added, eyes wide.I bit the inside of my cheek, trying not to laugh. They were so obvious.

I glanced at Sieun to see if he noticed of course he did. He just sighed softly, like he was already tired of their staring."They’re watching us," I whispered, leaning closer. "Ignore them," he said simply, squeezing my hand a little before tugging me gently forward.

As we walked past them, I caught the dumbfounded look on their faces out of the corner of my eye.

It was so hard not to laugh.

Behind us, I heard Hu Min mutter, "Bro... we just witnessed history." "I didn’t even know he talked to girls," Jun Tae added in a daze. "I think I need to sit down," Baku said dramatically.

I squeezed Sieun’s hand again, grinning to myself.

"Should we tell them?" I asked teasingly.

He shook his head, the ghost of a smirk playing on his lips.

"Let them figure it out."

I smiled so hard it hurt.
