Avro Landcaster MK.III

This image captures a view from the tail gunner position of an Avro Lancaster, a British heavy bomber from World War II.
The Lancaster was the primary heavy bomber used by RAF Bomber Command during the latter years of WWII.
Tail gunners occupied a turret at the rear of the aircraft, which was one of the most dangerous positions due to vulnerability to night fighters.
The photo shows the gear mechanisms used to rotate the turret and aim the mounted machine guns.
Only a few airworthy Lancaster bombers exist today, frequently appearing in airshows.
Two of my favorites 😍
