for what do we live, but to make sport for our neighbors and laugh at them in our turn ?

aesthetic:
satin pajamas. a bite of pastry, sweet and dry on the tongue. self-taught surety. wobbling footsteps like that of a fawn. kissing girls behind bookshelves. the taste of cotton candy lip balm. hearts pounding. tears dew-dropped on eyelashes. frilly socks. champagne bubbles. sweet lies, sweeter voice. hair scented like vanilla. feigned ignorance. let them eat cake.
connections:
atwood
there’s something about atwood to both admire and be terrified of. they’re confident and sure and – a part of you wishes you were more like them. but it should be said that you don’t mind who you are now. sure, you enjoy the finer things. you enjoy soft comforts. what’s wrong with that ? you aren’t hurting anyone, that’s certain, and really that’s what should matter most. they call you childish, but really the only one acting like a fool is them.
christie
you don’t hate anyone. that’s not you. it’s too time-consuming and exhausting to hate people. but if anyone came close, it would be christie. they act like they’re better than you – and maybe they are, but you won’t let them step on you like they do everyone else. they don’t get to interrupt you, they don’t get to keep you quiet. maybe other people are content in coming in last to others, but your mama didn’t raise no loser.
lee
you like walking the campus grounds. it’s green and beautiful and it reminds you of home. you came across lee one day in the gardens. you didn’t know people actually took care of the plants, but you suppose it makes sense. the first time, you sat on a bench and just talked to them, the second and third time, too. then, you just decided to kneel down in the dirt beside them, getting your hands dirty in the damp earth. it was nice, just you, lee, and the flowers. you hope they don’t mind you working beside them. they haven’t said anything to you, if they do.
