"Hey Soundwave, what happened to your quality control?"
Transformers officially licensed Shattered Glass Soundwave from Auldey's Alpha Action Elite series.
Pretty mixed results here. First off, flamboyant sparkly package filled with plenty of gear
The figure, an alt mode version, two cassettes with alt modes, 2 guns and 7 pairs of hands
The main mission here was to have an abundantly jointed up Soundwave, and in that regard they succeeded
The motion is all very fluid and has great ranges and a good balance. Plastic is fine, not on the level of blokees but not cheap
And with the extra gear its on its way to being a great set
However the quality control on the paint really lets it down. His head was pretty poor, visor not quite aligned and white from the mask bleeding onto the sides, his right shoulder tampo is on crooked, the buttons aren't filled out
And most importantly, the paint application was just way too thick, so many of the joints were nearly fused stiff from paint applied heavily directly to ball sockets or hinges which had to scrape itself off to move.
The worst of these was the thighs which were so stuck it felt like they might snap. After very carefully giving every joint a good amount of movement, unsticking (and scratching off) all the excess paint, everything seems to be fine. And thankfully no such issues on the pets.
Overall not a bad toy, plenty of value and extremely playable, but a very confusing unforced error with the paint, especially when so much of it is just white paint over white plastic.
