but instead, he finds himself shuffling inside the studio at the call of his name. a fumbled introduction, thank you-- and then the exchange of information and the small usb he slips over with his music selection. yoongi hates that he only has a minute-- ballet can’t be properly shown in a minute, much less the small allotted time he gave for it. he doesn’t have high hopes for something to come from this; if anything, it’s good exposure, it’s one step closer to yoongi actually trying and actively pursuing ballet again. maybe after, he’ll call his mom and tell her all about it. she’d be proud. he doesn’t bother to think what his father would think.

he wiggles his toes in his flats. bows his head and extends his leg upwards. his arms extend and bend, and the movements matching the tempo and crescendo of the music around him. it’s easy, easy to lose himself to the music, swings his arms and bends his body to the right, twists his arms. ballet is something intricate, and yoongi knows he can’t fully showcase it within a short time frame-- but he tries, tries his best to let his body move, feel the song and the rhythm and make it his own.

his arms are still entwined and extended when the music stops. his eyes fall open and the music shifts, something familiar. his body straightens, a hand reaching up to rake through his hair. he swallows, tight before the lyrics come through-- mouth spitting out lyrics that he’s memorized.

i follow in your shadow, i make a phone call. i become thrilled at the sound of your shaking breath.

yoongi lets emotion slip into his voice, sharpen his words and make them mean, tough and violent.

my heart runs after your increasingly quick steps. i think i’ll go crazy-- the night only gets darker. under the dead streetlamp in front of your house. i’m watching you through the crack in your window. until the night ends, come and find me. you keep playing a suffocating game of hide and seek with me-- you, you, you, you’re inseparable from me.

it’s fast, a drawl at the sharp tone of his voice as the music fades out to instrumental, and suddenly cuts off as his time ticks off. yoongi swallows, teeth biting at his lip-- and bends his body in a bow, all the breath leaving him in a relieved sigh as he sends out his thanks. a hand through his hair as he shuffles out of the room, and collapses in the waiting area outside, tired and drained and mentally exhausted.
