This is an excerpt from my last Austin performance at Aural Canyon in June. This show was an amazing send off and perfect way to so say goodbye to all my friends and fellow musicians in Austin. Be sure to listen with nice speakers or headphones, the sound quality is amazing!
Special thanks to Bryan Noll of Lightbath for the video! http://youtube.com/lightbath
working on new music
I have been watching a lot of entries for this year's Tiny Desk Contest and wanted to challenge myself this year by not playing any guitar. In this video I am performing a stripped down version of my song "These Static Transmissions" using 5 second, handmade cassette tape loops. Individual sounds are recorded and performed from the tape loops and then layered/processed through numerous effects in a setup I call the Suitcase of Drone. The resulting music is a tape based, improvised, computerless performance that blurs the genres of ambient, drone, noise, and electronic music.

I recently splurged on some Edifier R12U speakers, which are significantly more expensive and higher quality than the kind I normally buy. I'm realizing that I don't think I've ever experienced what good speakers sound like until now
See, I was watching a youtube video and it had a sequence whose sounds felt like they were physically moving across my desk. None of my old speakers would've ever been able give me that, and even my Samson SR850s struggles at replicating that sensation to the same level
Like, I'm not an audiophile—and I doubt I'll ever become one unless I start making significantly more money—but I'm starting to see how the obsession with audio quality might take hold of someone. This is legitimately blowing my mind.
