OMG ATLIN. I am always humbled and honoured whenever fic authors message or at me and send me their own recs. I don’t know why, maybe because I feel so unworthy, lol.

ANYWAY, thank you SO much for sharing your faves with us, and I am so happy to promote them for sure! I haven’t read either of these yet, so I look forward to checking them out some day, hahah!

so i wrote a somewhat scathing review of it already, but that was only halfway through the season. after watching all of it, i’ve softened a bit. there are plenty of people who enjoyed the mandalorian, and i can see why. it does some things really well. but ultimately, yeah, i found the whole thing pretty boring, and no, it doesn’t really get better. 

i can’t tell you whether or not you should watch it, because if you have like a cold and just want something really soothing and easy to watch with a high production value and a sickeningly sweet heart, it’s a great show. but it’s also not one that makes you want to slam the next episode button at 2 in the morning because you can’t wait to see what happens next. the latter is not inherently better than the former, but the things i personally value in tv shows were completely absent in the mandalorian.

i feel about the mandalorian the exact opposite of the way i feel about the witcher. the witcher should not have worked on any level, yet watching it is like being lovingly kicked in the teeth. you go into it kind of bored and apprehensive, and for me anyway, i had to be convinced to like it. (and i was!)

the mandalorian, however, should have worked for me but didn’t. i went into it totally jazzed but was deeply disappointed. i kept looking for things to appreciate in it, but all i could muster was a vague enjoyment, like watching a particularly witty commercial, but for like, 8 hours. what i really got out of it was a craft lesson -- how, if this show has done everything Right, what feels like a story tailored exactly to my interests, has it failed so hard for me?

“Could be bigger,” Hux muttered.

“Excuse me?” Kylo asked, folding his arms across his bare chest and staring down at Hux.

“The cap,” Hux replied, lifting it off his head and waving it about so it flopped about the grip he had on the rigid brim. He stopped and started at it, a filthy smile breaking out on his face as his eyes slipped sideways. With the great precision and concentration know only to those who had long since passed the stage known as utterly rat-arsed, Hux reached out and hung the hat from that part of Kylo’s anatomy that was closest to him.
