An angel cast out of heaven for being prideful and disobeying god. In addition there are many christians who associate being queer with disobeying god yada yada yada.

okay this is totally unrelated but something I find so interesting is that they refer to the fallen angel, Lucifer, as she/her. I just think it’s an interesting observation.
On the note of she/her not fitting a queer narrative, queerness transcends gender binaries and language. It always has and always will. In addition, this is listening to the song from a queer perspective. It is not an attempt at trying to say what the song is about. (although there is always the small small possibility that i’m right- but if you shoot 1000 arrows, at least one is bound to hit the target lol)
Then the outro is just a bunch of innuendos lol.
Why am I sharing this?
1. Ateez, whether intentional or not, continue to provide media which deeply resonates with queer fans. Personally, as a young queer person, Ateez have been an artist that have helped me navigate a society in which my very existence is still debated. I have had to navigate a world in which I, and others like me, have been and still are used as a scapegoat. We live in a world in which we are being controlled through lies, fear, and rules. Ateez music has helped me find strength in times in which I feel too weak to fight back.
2. A passion for art and exploring the countless interpretations that one piece can produce in its audience.
@storkmuffin I remember reading your post about how Mingi is a lot more blunt than the rest and I have another theory as to why that could be the case.
In terms of their Source of Energy (Extraverted/Introverted) Ateez is equally distributed if we look at their most recognized test results. Hongjoong, Yeosang, San and Jongho are Introverts and Seonghwa, Yunho, Mingi and Wooyoung are extroverts.
But if we look at their Feeling/Thinking distribution, Mingi is the only Thinker in the entire group. I have seen people on PDB typing him as ESFP but I will just go with him being ENTP.
While T/F is about decision-making, it also translates into how we speak. There is less consideration for feelings and how something would affect other people. That's where the stereotype "Thinkers have no feelings" comes from. To Feelers it might sound straightforward, blunt and sometimes even cruel if someone addressss something directly and matter-of-factly instead of being more considerate about their choice of words.
Now, in comparison to how the others talk, Mingi already stands out with his voice since he doesn't do that soft talking that Yeosang, San and Seonghwa do and the others don't have that naturally deep voice. Pairing that with his bluntness, I can imagine why people might think of him as rude.
This is merely a theory since I don't share that experience.

I only saw the part where the tarot reader spread the cards out and asked them to pick but I couldn't really see the cards (I was twisting my head and all hhhh). Now. For the next part. I don't know which are you talking about: their dynamics or the seongjoong ship. But I want to emphasize that as much people wanna ship or fangirl, do know and remember that they are their own person, and we should never cross their boundaries.

To answer your question, I'm not sure why do people think it's one-sided but I personally think it goes both ways, just that they have different ways of showing them.
Seonghwa is more straight forward with his feelings and expresses them outwardly, hence you can see him wanting Hongjoong to praise him and what not.
But Hongjoong is more... Shy. He gives me the type to feel iffy about emotions and feelings and gets goosebumps when people say they like him. Just... Recall how he reacts when he had to do physical contact ahahahahaha. That boy is not good with physical touch and his top love language would probably acts of service (writing Thank U for Seonghwa and his first song was for his grandmother iirc).
So yeah! I do not see it as one-sided! They share a very interesting dynamic and compensate each other pretty well, as they're also the mom and dad of ATEEZ lmAO

I am by no means the only correct instance, if you think differently, that's fine. Everyone is entiteled to their own opinion.
I don't want this to be a disclaimer post only so I will start with something general that I think should be addressed.
Fandom culture.
Specifically the attack on criticism.
People have always been protective of their favorites, no matter who they were and I'm not saying they shouldn't be but what has stood out to me recently is the blatant ignorance to the difference between criticism and hate.
Kpop idols are supposed to be exactly that, idols. The perfect, in this case, representation of whatever their trying to sell, boyfriends, partners, the ideal man (I'm talking about boygroups, I am unfamillar with what exactly girl groups are selling although I don't think it differs much).
An attack on that concept is essentially an attack on people's fantasies and forces them to confront the reality: that this idol might not be as perfect.
Then again, idols are also just humans and humans make mistakes and no constructive criticism depraves them of this. Hate does it.
Hate cherry picks instances and characteristics and turns them into ammunition to kill confidence. It is no secret that, to an insecure person, one negative comment does more dammage than a positive one gives confidence.
Constructive criticism, however, is intended to help improve something or someone. It is not meant to diminish confidence.
This difference gets ignored or is lost to some people who insist anything negative is meant to do harm to their favorite idol.
This draws right back to @storkmuffin 's post about how protective people are of their fantasies and favorite idol because reality is too harsh for them to confront 24/7 and they seek refuge.
This goes hand in hand with the infantilization of idols and the idea of "__ is too perfect, he could never do anything wrong". I have seen comments of this sort and any time I question if this is really what they think because it is not something I can get behind.
I can imagine that they have ventured too far into the parasocial relationship and would feel naked, cold, exposed and without anything stabilizing them if they were to be pulled out of it. However, eventually they will crash. Sooner or later something will pull them out, violently or not.
To mind comes the T*eil scandal or Burning Sun. This should serve as enough proof that while a favorite idol can portray the angel on earth (or so I've heard from NCTzens) and be a disgusting person when the cameras turn off.
This is a violent crash, in my opinion a non-violent crash would be either the disbandment or the idol enters a realtionship, like Chen from Exo, who only revealed his partner shortly before getting married and expecting their first child.
After reading more about the exact function of idols (I had somehow missed it or didn't really realize it was that serious to fans, especially S. Korean fans) I am now able to see why Exo-Ls wanted him to leave the group. With a wife and child he would no longer be able to portray the character he had before and to think about someone who is in a relationship in a romantic & sexual way is absolutely inappropriate and wrong (that, I was aware of).
I have more topics I'd like to post about and I'm currently reading a book on MBTI, so I will go more in depth about Ateez. This was just a short sneak-peak into my mind.

Yes, these three are related and in this post I will explain how. This analysis is based on the book "TypeTalk" by Otto Kroeger and Janet M. Thuesen.
I won't be working with all letters to make things easier as I am also still learning. Instead I'll use temepraments. There are four in total: NF, NT, SJ, SP and I'll try and asign one to each Ateez member with explanation.
Disclaimer: This is my opinion and my point of view. It is limited to what I see and know and therefor subjective. My opinion isn't written in stone and there is always room for improvement, the same goes for everyone else.
Hongjoong: NF
Unique/personal style, experiments with colors -> wide aray of brighter colors, adds his own touch to standard items by painting them
Hongjoong embodies the NF temperament to a T, he has a "flair of combining styles, textures and colours", as evident in his personal style that seems most thought about and curated among the 8. Hongjoong has worn many colours and patters, some of which I would never touch with a ten-foot pole but somehow he has made it part of himself, which applies to the life goal of an NF: a lifelong "quest [...] for identity". In this pursuit he has aquired garments that probably resonate with him on a much deeper level than just comfort or utility, they are part of him and since there is "no1likeme" he also pegs me to be the type to hold onto whatever piece he can, even if it's old or falling appart because "to throw them away is to throw away a statement about self". Despite my personal opinion, I wouldn't call him vibrant or loud in his colour choices, they still are within "soft lines and colors" with the occasioanl outbreak. In Ateez, he definitly takes the cake when it comes to being innovative and unique, there is no one who does it quite like he does. While he isn't the only one with personal style, none of the others really dab into experiments specifically regarding colours & patterns like him, they usually stick to black, white, blue and brown. His go-to-brands at the moment seem to be Balmain, Burberry and Valentino.
Besides that, there also seems to be something related to gender stereotypes and breaking them within his style, possibly evoked by his style icons David Bowie and the creative director of Balmain Olivier Rousteing.
Seonghwa: NF
Plays with silhouettes/shapes, unconventional pieces, experimenting with gender -> wears women's clothing, somewhat futuristic/avant-garde cuts
It is safe to say and has been confirmed many times that Seonghwa enjoys wearing "genderless fashion". Why the quotation marks? Because I see it as rather genderfluid fashion than genderless, where is the difference though? It has more to do with the motive than with the reaction evoked by others. The reaction mostly stays the same, people wonder: "Is it a man or a women?" but the underlying intention of the one evoking said reaction is what makes the difference. Seonghwa has expressed his desire to wear both men's and women's wear and has done so within possibility (yes, this is about him wanting to wear more dresses but saying he can't... he should) and that puts him into the genderfluid category (I'm not speculating about his identity) whereas I'd say Hongjoong fits more into the genderless/agender category of fashion. What I noticed recently while going back to his posts from about a year ago is that, during comeback and tour preparations, his indulgence in this genderfluidity has decreased and made space to him really leaning into his masculinity.
Him being an NF, in my opinion, is similar to Hongjoong. To Seonghwa, fashion is a big part of his identity, maybe not regarding colours and patterns but definitly regarding styles as I explained above. Wearing skirts as a male kpop idol is no longer something new but I fail to see the generity of the same idols waring dresses or even expressing the likes of it. This has made Seonghwa, and anyone else who as said so, "unique" and maybe even a "trendsetter". His brand deals with Isabel Marant and Songzio as well as his stylist have aided him in this as they let him choose what he wanted to wear instead of confining him to stereotypes and pre-constructed outfits. In terms of colours he blends in with most other Ateez members by wearing a lot of black clothes and silver jewelry, he lets his silhouettes do most of the work.
As I was conducting research by looking at accounts like @/teezcouture on IG I found that Yunho wears high end brands (especially Dior and Ralph Lauren) in a way I'd associate with quiet luxury and I think that says a lot about him. While he doesn't hold it over peoples' heads that he can afford them, he still has them and wears them as if they were from any other place. What plays right into that is the boyfriend aesthetic his clothes amplify. He doesn't buy the type of designer pieces people would flag as designer by the sole look of them but jeans that look like normal jeans, cardigans, t-shirts with no obvious (I'd say obnoxious) logo on them, etc. It all fits his "agenda" to make people feel safe in his presence as well as it aids him in his job to sell his idol persona. He constructs this exeptionally well by not only dressing like "boyfriend material" but also by posting the outfits in casual settings, as if the viewer was there with him. He doesn't wear baggy clothes as much as he does well-fitted ones, he aims to be and look comfortable.
To me, he embodies the SJ perfectly, it's all there: the preference for a classic look, the importance of quality, value and longevity (in a timeless way - his clothes will always be chic) and the thought put into it. He does seem to take good care of his clothes and not like the one to mindlessly throw them out. About the color plan, his scheme seem to be soft/warm colors with the occasional black thrown into it. I wouldn't say he buys coordinated outfits but since there is an aesthetic to fulfil they all'd go well with eachother.
Yeosang: SJ
Equal parts warm colors and black, warm/fuzzy, smart casual, experiments with layering
Yeosang tends to have a "main brand" in an outfit either all or most of his clothes are from, Prada and Maison Margiela. While Prada occupies the role of black in his closet, Maison Margiela is the one he includes color with. I'm not really familiar with the practices of astrology but Yeosang is a gemini and that seems to translate into his fashion style as well. Black is usually associated with chic and that applies here too but Yeosang doesn't only do black, he switches it up with color and that is where Maison Margiela comes in. What he achieves with that switch up is a rather unique approach since his members usually stick to their respective styles that are recognizable. Not to mention that the minimalistic pieces are only detected as desinger pieces when the Prada logo is shown whereas e.g. that beige Maison Margiela coat already seemed like a recognizable piece (in my opinion at least).
I took a closer look at his outfits and for quite a few of them seem to be entirely or at least almost from one specific brand. This proves the point of "may purchase a planned, coordinated outfit of related garments" and since he seems to enjoy classic masculine outfits first and interesting in terms of colours/patterns second I'd atribute this to the preference for it. If he buys clothes based on "quality, durability, value [and] longevity" or if a "prescribed color plan" exist is something I cannot really prove but based on what I've seen I'd be in favor of it.
San: NT/SJ
Comfortable, classic, mainly black and white, balance between tight and baggy/casual and classic -> smart casual
San aims to either look classic/chic which is related to his job as a Dolce&Gabbana brand ambassador or be comfortable. he also doesn't draw attention to the brand of his clothes unless it's "required by [his] job" as an ambassador/idol. I noticed he doesn't play around with patterns or colors as much as other memebers but sticks to darker colors and monochromatic looks. This saves him the effort of putting too much thought into his outfits, however he seems to care a bit more than Jongho by wearing tight tops and more wide-cut pants (but this may also stem from his desire to show of his body rather than a deliberate fashion choice regarding silhouette). In conclusion, he dresses like an SJ temperament (classic, planned, coordinated with a color scheme) when on the brand ambassador job and like NT (comfort, utility, not highest priority) when not. However, since he, regarding instagram posts and public appearances, dresses more classic and simple, I'd say almost old school masculine, I'll put him in the SJ category.
Mingi: SP
mainly black, emo/grunge, streetwear, A LOT of silver jewelry, bold in texture/print/details
There really is no other temperament I could associate with Mingi and he probably is also the member I had to do the least research about. He wears a lot of brands together as well as a lot of jewelry and doesn't seem to care much about if it's "too much". What strikes me most about his style, aside from the, in my opinion, exessive jewelry are his pants: baggy jeans with unusual patterns. They draw attention and he knows to dress for them to have their moment while coordonating everything to achieve coherency. It still somehow feels casual like Wooyoung but achieves a bigger impact due to Mingi's size, his choice of baggy clothes amplify it. I peg him to be the kind of person that would wear anything, designer or not, as long as it matches his style. I don't know if it's just me but on the rare occasion I see Mingi in something really colorful I have to do a double take, I also fail to determine if it's because I'm just not used to it since he mainly wears dark colours or because it doesn't really suit him much.
Additionally, Mingi doesn't seem to wear the brands he's affiliated with (Off-White, Calvin Klein) as much as e.g. Alexander McQueen, what seems to be one of his favorite brands.
Wooyoung: SJ/SP
Mostly black and white, main brands: Chrome Hearts & Courreges, bold for photoshoots, wears lots of comfortable pants (joggers, baggy jeans)
You may ask yourself why I added SJ even though I can already say that SP is the "more correct" conclusion. Because of his coherency in brands. Wooyoung is very loyal to his favorite brand, Chrome Hearts, and that bleeds into the coordination factor. He, however, goes against most of the other points attributed to the SJ temperament, I just thought it would be worthy to add.
Which is why I believe SP to be the better choice. He doesn't dress as boldly or daring in everday life as he does in photoshoots *cough* Vogue 30.09.25 & Arena 26.05.25 *cough* but rather casual in the streetstyle category. His statement come across regardless, he is almost always wearing either Chrome Hearts or Courrèges and wants people to know that. He frequently wears clothes that seem comfortable (jogger pants, baggy jeans) which leads me to assume he prefers "action-oriented garments". The book included being able to "intertwine bargains with designer labels" and I have to give him that. He, according to @/faeteez on tumblr, has said his style is "hip and trendy. And hybrid" which proves my point.
Jongho: NT/SJ
Wears clothes mainly for comfortability, black/grey/blue -> no bright colors, standard variety (jeans/pants, hoodie/pullover/button shirts, jackets) -> no outstanding clothing pieces/no play with silhouettes
NTs, according to my book, tend to choose clothes for utility and comfort rather than wanting to make a statement. Jongho seems to go well with this. He wears standard outfits (shirt, jacket, pants) with standard cuts and sticks to a limited color pallette to avoid having to put too much thought into his outfit as it isn't his highest priority. He still wants to look put together though without putting the comfort factor at risk so he adds accessories like watches, his glasses and that one necklace. What I noticed is that he buys designer clothes that don't look like they are e.g. Celine track pants or the ami jacket. He doesn't draw attention to the fact that he has money aside from the watches, they seem to be his favorite type of accessoire, but still values quality. On the other hand, the clothes he buys don't have to be designer brands or even expensive. He really just goes with what works best for him, without an ulterior motive.
I would also consider SJ regarding him wearing standard masculine clothes and sticking to the "traditional" way. He's not seen experimemting but rather sticking to what's been working best for him. According to the book SJs "buy clothes of quality, durability, value and longevity" which I believe applies to him. He doesn't seem like the person to make constant additions or changes to his closet, any additions blend in well with what's already there, however, he does seems like the person to take good care of what he owns. What I don't really see him do is buying planned/coordinated outfits e.g. of the runway or of one collection, I also wouldn't say that there is a "prescribed color plan" involved.
He seems to like Acne Studios and Celine enough for them to make repeated appearances though.

What ties in with my last post is something we see not just in Kpop but regarding almost all if not all topics posted, though I'll use Kpop as an example since I want to discuss something in relations to that.
Us vs them, right vs wrong.
The constructive criticism is seen as an attack of the haters, the others. People who don't share their opinion and are therefor a threat to the idol they're attached to.
Before I proceed, I want to make clear that there is nothing wrong with seeking a break from reality and engaging in fandom and fantasy to brighten up life.
Onto the topic at hand, now why would people even become offended enough to engage in hate themselves or react in a hostile way when they encounter people who don't share their opinion.
Social media bubbles.
Way before Tiktok rose to popularity, there were Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. To be honest, I have no idea how FB works, I have never used it nor was I fond of Twitter, I still am not. However, I assume they all work the same way.
Algorithms used by social media platforms are programmed to show you content you like. That way, they can keep your attention and keep you scrolling. That's how they make money.
This is how the bubble forms, the algorithm keeps showing you content you like and keeps you away from content you don't show interest in. Continuously seeing content that assures you in your opinion and simultaneously being subjected to "see what the others are doing, this is wrong!" by the people "on your side" of course will be imprinted into your brain. The more people engage with their bubble and don't seek varied opinions and different points of view, the more unwilling to change and rigid they'll become because it becomes more and more uncomfortable to confront that one's opinion also might just not be the only right one.
That, of course, is about the people that are already far into said headspace and in this case parasocial relationship.
While initially a method of politics to separate the voters and public to prevent uprising and keep them focused on each other, it has now carried into every day life due to the increased use of especially Tiktok.
Tiktok wasn't always like this but its increased popularity has made it perfect for this kind of conflict.
Now, the business of Kpop is to sell you a perfect idol to form a relationship with. That ensures the survival of the group. I can imagine that, aside from the desire to be loved or at least feel loved the people prone to develop such relationships also long for "the perfect man" in a world where the polarisation of men and women keeps increasing. A growing number of men show interest in going back in terms of feminism to escape the "male loneliness epidemic", a perfect idol however wouldn't want that. The version fans have made up about them would protect and support them and in return they support and protect this "idol character" of theirs.
If that idol is now threatened by something with valid reasoning, what happens?
Exactly, they fight to prevent any possible dammage. This is currently happening, although not on a grand scale, within the atiny fandom.
Why?
Because of the WooSanHwa trip to the Harry Potter museum.
I'm not sure how well known it is that J.K.R. is an open transphobe and has used her money to support anti-trans politics but even me, who is engagimg with LGBTQ+ content on social media has seen maybe 5-10 videos and posts about this.
I am well aware that Wooyoung is a big Harry Potter fan and I'm not here to expect he stop being a fan but it is true that by paying for official merch and experiences one is funding her agenda. Knowingly or not.
Below Wooyoung's instagram post I saw several people defending him and telling him to pay no mind to "the haters". The haters being everyone addressing the J.K.R. situation.
This is a nice example of what I explained above but also the "infantilization" of idols. "Leave him alone", "stop talking about politics" or my favorite "Atinys need to stop portraying him as some politically aware social justice warrior [...]"
What...
Is he not a grown man? Does he not deserve to know about who he's giving money to? Does he not deserve the opportunity to act uppon his morals?
