I really have to thank my English teacher from high school otherwise I might´ve overlooked this connection entirely.

Yeon Sieun:

Sieun grew up mainly around his dad who has a job in sports so being a man is likely tied to being athletic and good at physical exercise. He is anything but that so he´s been different from a very early age and didn´t fit the standards. This only got worse when his introversion became more prominent so he´s never been part of the in-group, of any group to be precise. How humans grow is greatly affected by their surroundings. Taking into account that he could never fulfill his fathers´ expectation of being a man nor making it as part of a group, I imagine he became somewhat estranged from the concept of gender roles. That he grew up separated from his mother and never had a "complete" family certainly didn´t help. It might not sound like such a big deal, his father obviously didn´t neglect nor hate him, he does care for him but dare I say that most men aren´t exeptionally great at communicating important feelings? Women aren´t always great at it either, his mother obviously being an example for that, not really caring for her son outside his academic achievements, but women are raised differently. I doubt he loses sleep over it but it must have crossed his mind at one point or another, probably in relation to Suho. His decisions aren´t made to adher to a form of masculinity but are based on his moral compass and what he thinks is right and just.

Ahn Suho:

Suho was most likely mainly raised by his grandmother and in combination with his fighting skills that made him some kind of protector. He feels responsible for protecting his newfound friends since they can´t really protect themselves and he is the only one with fighting experience. He embodies, possibly without knowing, what everyone always calls a "real man" without the "alpha" attached to it by the podcasters. Yet, despite the influence of his grandmother, he lacks the skills to properly deal with emotions and to not solve everything with physical domination and violence. Granted, he can hold conversations, recognize that someone isn´t feeling well and talk about it but he certainly isn´t the mediator. This could also just be attributed to his personality but I suppose there are basics that everyone should learn in order to have rewarding relationships. Suho links masculinity to being a good fighter and to protect and provide for his immediate family & friends.

Oh Beomseok:

However, if you'd ask me on a deeper level, I would say Jayce because of his loyalty to Viktor. They shared the dream to give Hextech to everyone and ease their lives but as soon as Jayce realized the severity of Viktors illness, his focus shifted. His focus becam saving Viktor and after the attack on the council, he threw his principles and morals out the window and connected the Hexcore with organic matter (Viktor) to save him because he was about to die.

Then, he shot Viktor because he gave future!Viktor the promise that he'd stop him. And when all his attempts at preventing the future failed, he refused to leave Viktor and ended it together with him.

I can't turn into words how much they already mean to me.

Beomseok felt excluded, Youngi never had the chance to get to know Beomseok and Suho didn't see a problem. But Sieun saw.

And he tried. Tried so hard to solve this conflict in his own way. Trying hard doesn't look the same for everyone. Sieun jad never had frienda before them and therefor didn't know any better. But he tried to talk to Beomseok and tried to get him to talk to them but Beomseok was too damaged by his family and Suho lacked the emotional intelligence to see beneath the layers.

But he saw beneath Sieun's. In his eyes. Sieun was never shunned for showing emotions, he just didn't do it with his face.

Beomseok was probably beaten more when he did so he adapted and adopted an aura of neutrality, levelness to be able to ecape this. He swallowed down the pain to keep living.

Sieun didn't, he just didn't feel as much due to the neglect of his parents. That changed when becoming friends with Suho and Beomseok. He wanted to care, to show them that he cares so he used his strenght, his mind, and what he would have wanted to have, a nice meal with company and people to ask and care about him, and did exactly that for the people he cherished.

In terms of their Source of Energy (Extraverted/Introverted) Ateez is equally distributed if we look at their most recognized test results. Hongjoong, Yeosang, San and Jongho are Introverts and Seonghwa, Yunho, Mingi and Wooyoung are extroverts.

But if we look at their Feeling/Thinking distribution, Mingi is the only Thinker in the entire group. I have seen people on PDB typing him as ESFP but I will just go with him being ENTP.

While T/F is about decision-making, it also translates into how we speak. There is less consideration for feelings and how something would affect other people. That's where the stereotype "Thinkers have no feelings" comes from. To Feelers it might sound straightforward, blunt and sometimes even cruel if someone addressss something directly and matter-of-factly instead of being more considerate about their choice of words.

Now, in comparison to how the others talk, Mingi already stands out with his voice since he doesn't do that soft talking that Yeosang, San and Seonghwa do and the others don't have that naturally deep voice. Pairing that with his bluntness, I can imagine why people might think of him as rude.

And now this trope has found me again in Arcane with Jayce and Viktor and left a eerie feeling I do not know how to describe.

I usually don't cry much, even if it gets sad, it just makes me feel weird.

At end of every single one of the shows above, I was bawling (except for Gotham and Helluva Boss, idk why, it probably just didn't really reach that far into my heart).

But now that Jayce and Viktor found me, I feel the need to indulge. Rewatch this show, analyze and save every single goddamn detail, soak up all content and commit it to memory.

The writers really forgot to tell the animators AND the voice actors that they are (apparently) not more than simple friends and partners.
