Backstory to catch you up: I have Sarcoidosis. It is an autoimmune disease. I’m living with it and trying to manage it. I’m also a divorced working parent. My stress levels are extremely high. Couple that with my depression and anxiety and you got a person who routinely barricades herself in the house and eats sunflower seeds whilst staring off into space. –> And I’m okay with that. Thanks.

Blog 11:  Me as a writer

I have been writing stories myself for a long time now, but mostly for pleasure and fun. But the thing is, I never actually get to finish them. When I do a continuation, it’s either in my imagination or when I daydream.

When my professor gave us the task to create a short story, I was very excited to do it. Since I am a bit experienced with little stories, I got an idea for one.

It was a bit of a challenge because I have never completed a short story, I was worried what if they didn’t like the plot, or the characters, or the flow, or even my construction of it. But when my friends read it, they gave me lots of complements and of course I know that there will be criticisms on it when my time comes for the critiquing.

While I was in the process of writing my short story, I was enthused and was on a roll, because I was confident in writing it. The inspiration for my story is actually one of my fantasies, and my friend said that my main character resembled me, well, just like my prof. said; “You will always put a little bit of yourself in your character”, and I think I greatly did.

When I first thought about my plot for the story, I was a bit nervous because my prof. is a bit strict when it comes to writing, since it was her forte. And when I received a copy of my plot, there were comments on it, and of course I did not share that much of my plot in my diagram, because I wanted it to be a surprise, for both my professor and my classmates.
