To ALL the asexuals out there (and yes this includes aro aces, alloaces, and the whole aspec):
Happy asexual day!! It’s been four years since I’ve discovered I was asexual. It’s been a hard journey, not only with the acceptance and ace phobia, but also with figuring out your own identity and where you are on the spectrum. Sometimes you will find comfort with labels, sometimes you don’t. That’s fine.
Sometimes you find out where you on the spectrum, sometimes you don’t. Sometimes you change where you are. That’s also fine. It’s very normal. Asexuals who have sex are still asexuals. And there are different attitudes that asexuals have (sex-repulsed, sex-averse, sex-favorable, etc) There is no “perfect” asexual.
Personally, I am sex-repulsed. I’ve went from asexual to heteroromantic asexual to aromantic asexual to biromantic sexual to what I now find the most comfortable which is demiromantic asexual. And that can change! It’s okay if it does.
It can be long journey for everyone and we’re all going different places. But the point is that we all have a journey. So moral of the story, asexuality (or sexuality and romantic orientation in general) is something for you to find out. No one can tell you what you are because they aren’t you. And to those asexuals who are struggling with their asexuality, I’m not here to tell you it gets better because it’s hard. But there’s a whole community out there and we’re stronger together.
Have a great asexual day :)
