Summary: Remember, before they got the Speed Lab, that truck in that wide open area they used to test Barry’s abilities in? Well this is a story of a ride to that wide open area in that truck.
Warnings: Language!
*******
A series of holes in the road threw you, Caitlin, Cisco, and Barry all around the truck. The turbulence also caused several curses to fill the air.
For what seemed like the thousandth time, Cisco assured, “I am going to get the city to fill those in.”
“Cisco!” you scolded from the back.
He flinched. “Fine! I’ll build something and fill them in myself.”
“Does anyone want anything?” you asked as you sat down on top of some sturdy shelves and grabbed some snacks out of a bag that you had brought along. After the first few trips out to that field to test Barry’s abilities, you decided to bring along some food for you and the others. Little did you know that they would be eternally grateful for existence after that.
After distributing some snacks, it was a pretty nice ride with the bumps in the road being few and far between. Cisco was at the wheel, Caitlin in the passenger seat, and Barry was riding in the back with you. Wells couldn’t accompany the four of you that day because he had some business to deal with. That didn’t bother you. Despite the tears you had worked for the man, the two of you had never become close.
Caitlin shook you from your thoughts when she mentioned to you from over her shoulder, “So Y/n, I hear there’s a cute new barista at Jitters.”
“Yeah...and?” You pulled your feet up to tuck your chin into your knees.
The woman giggled, “...You like him.”
“Shut up,” you groaned and hid your blush.
In doing so, you couldn’t see Barry’s reaction to your newest revelation. “You have a crush on the new barista?” His tone was higher than normal, and his voice broke. Barry was suddenly acting very strange.
“I don’t know. Why do you guys care, anyway?” You really wanted the subject to change.
Barry shook his head. “Care? I don’t care. We’re just making friendly conversation. Right guys? This is just friendly conversation.”
Cisco laughed, “Slow down, Barry! Jesus, if you keep talking this fast, you’ll end up telling Y/n how you really feel--” He cut himself off real fast.
An awkward silence fell over the RV.
“Do you...Do you like me, Barry?” You felt like an idiot for not seeing it sooner, but a part of you still needed convincing nonetheless.
Instead of the Flash, Cisco spoke, “I’m sorry, Y/n. I shouldn’t’ve said anything. But honestly, it was taking forever for Barry to admit he is in love with you--OW!”
  Caitlin had hit his arm.
His thoughts had not yet caught up with him. “Why the hell did you do tha--OH MY GOD I AM SO SORRY. I’ll--I’ll--I’ll shut up now.”
Up until the, you had been staring in shock at the idiot in the driver’s seat. You turned back to Barry for confirmation.
“Please, don’t hate me,” Barry worried. He suggested, “We can forget about all of this if you want. I just--I don’t want to lose you, as a friend or otherwise.”
For a moment, you didn’t say anything. You just tried to think. Finally, your suddenly raspy voice asked, “How long have you loved me?”
He swallowed. The fear gradually left his eyes. Soon, you only saw sincerity. Barry seemed to think that his grave was dug deep enough, so he didn’t have much left to lose. “The day after we met,” he answered your question. “I was going to Jitters, and from across the street, I saw you leaving. You sorta just...stopped. It was like the weight of the world hit you right then. You sighed, and you shook your head. You kept walking like nothing had happened. You had that same smile on your face that you always have. I just...remember being completely in awe of you. That was when I fell for you.”
“...I love you, too,” you admitted.
You barely registered Cisco and Caitlin fangirling in the two front seats.
I was never serious about the barista. I just...I figured that was the best way to keep things normal between us: to focus on other people...I had no idea you felt the same way.”
Barry sprung forward and stood in front of you. “I do! I do. I 100% do,” he promised. “Oh my God, I can’t believe this is happening.”
Giggling like a middle-schooler, you mirrored Barry’s elated grin. “Do we--”
   “Do we, uh--”
Both of you had started at the same time.
The Flash stammered, “Do you want to--?”
“Kiss--?” you completed the thought that both of you were trying to relate.
Barry sighed in the relief that you had the same idea as him. “Yeah, I do.”
The kiss was shaky, hesitant, and neither of you could figure out when or how to get tongues involved; but it was perfect. You had dropped your legs to sit properly a while ago, and Barry stepped between them to get closer to you. He held your head and your hip. You placed your hands on his chest. After a moment or two, you got hungry for more and pulled Barry down closer to you by the neck. He didn’t mind one bit. In fact, you heard a short grown of appreciation from him. Barry moved even closer and circled his arms around your torso.
“Okay, guys,” warned Cisco from up front, “Let’s not get too explicit back there.” He finished with a worried laugh.
Parting from Barry, you rested your forehead on yours that made your half-lidded eyes shine bright.Â
Barry admired you as he gently stroked your cheek with his thumb.
Interrupting the tenderness of the moment, another jolt of the truck made your head ricochet off of Barry’s. Both of you groaned at the impact.
“Sorry!” he called from the front, right before the truck ran over a severely bumpy portion of the road, causing Barry to lose his balance and pull you to the floor with him.

jfc I’m kinda glad I ignore the Arrowverse Flash fandom because I love Nora and think she’s hella cute and then I poke my head into the the fandom and it seems a lot of people were annoyed by her and hated her.
