It's been brought to my attention that this is apparently a common misconception in regions where fidough is not a native species:
WE DO NOT EAT THE BREAD DOG.
Yes, it is invaluable for culinary purposes, and almost every bakery has one or several, evolved or not. That is because it is a reliable source of high quality YEAST. That's why bread from your local store that uses the exact same recipe might not taste as good as the loaf you had in palda, they don't have a fidough to keep their sourdough starter in perfect condition.
Fidough is only slightly more edible than litten, with the exception of its fur. Its fur is mostly made of gluten, which is why certain people who aren't typically allergic to fur Have a reaction to it, and also part of the way that it maintains the health of its yeast culture.
It's basically the same misconception people have about alcreme, where the product that it provides is mistaken as the pokemon itself. This is different from pokemon like miltank, which are edible in addition to producing a product.
Fidough bread, dash"buns", and alcremie cream are't the actual pokemon unless the baker is making them EXTREMELY wrong
Appleton pie and slowpoke tails are TECHNICALLY eating the pokemon itself, but the kinds you can purchase at the grocery store are harvested in a way that does not cause nearly any harm to the pokemon themselves.
