Brushfire: fire/grass brambalin. She knows several fire moves, and has health complications due to self ignition. Tera ghost energy helps to keep her healthy
Vyrate: two-headed flapple. Fairly healthy for her condition but we are taking precautions against a possible evolution.
Luna: albino heliolisk, a side effect of her lack of pigmentation is the inability to photosynthesize. requires supplements, but otherwise healthy.
Voltback: triken cyclazar, dragon/electric type with extreme hyperactive tendencies.

For the most part, real life animals aren't exactly a thing. The three exceptions I currently have decided on are: chickens (blazekin don't work for the eggs part, and try as I might, I can't see a chancey farm) sponges (there's no pokemon sponge, and I refuse to believe that mew was the first step beyond a jellyfish) and the pacific volcano snail (because that thing is just actually a pokemon)

Is there any pokemon whose entire species is a crossbreed, and the pure "original" breed is extinct?

Okay, so how Darwinian evolution works with crossbreeds is basically this: breed a pokemon enough over and over again and you'll eventually get a new species. Takes a while, but it can happen. This won't talk about common ancestors that count as different pokemon or pokemon that evolved go fit their environment without repeated crossbreeding, because those are different things.
When I say "repeatedly bred with X species", I usually mean that one pokemon was bred with two different species and then their offspring were bred with more of the species of their father or a new species entirely. Sometimes, pokemon are bred with the same species but the other one they are bred with is a crossbreed of a different pokemon.
Eevee is the best example of this. The reason their genes are so unstable is because they have so much differing DNA in them. They're also both canines and felines because of it
The Quaquaval line evolved from Ducklet that ended up in Paldea and kept breeding with Wingull and Flamigo and then back with other quaxly.
Granbull are thought to come about from breeding ancient war dogs (probably primitive forms of Mabostiff), Tauros, Pilowswine, and Blissey. Lost a lot of the traits from these other mon overtime (hence the lack of pattern for most standard breeds), but the traits of these pokemon can be seen trhough their tusks (from Piloswine), their name (granBULL bcuz Tauros is a bull), and their shoulder pads which are from Blissey
Audino are man-made pokemonnand come about from Blissey that were bred with female Indeedee and lopunny (ik I've said in the past that Audino and Indee aren't related species. I take that back)
Early versions of (female) Chestnaught were repeatedly bred with Ryhorn and Sandslash and then bred back with purebred (early) female Chestnaught so the line could be stronger and have tougher shells. Kalos royalty did this in around the late 1700s early 1800s to have knight-like pokemon guard their gardens, and they eventually ended up becoming the starter for the Kalos region
Modern-day Litten were bred with Purugly and Growlithe litten mixes so they would be more domestic/friendly
Modern-day Tepig have Lechonk DNA in them, most likely so they would be cuter to people. Before they started being bred, they looked and acted more aggressive
Modern-day fennekin are the result of repeatedly breeding Braixen with Herdier + Meowstic to result in a more friendly starter breed. Old fenniken looked relatively the same, but they looked more wild and had smaller eyes and a stockier build.
Cyclizar. Definitely Cyclizar, but we don't really know how. Whatever crossbreed has been done to It was so long ago that we don't have evidence of what they looked like beforehand outside of fossil records. Do not mention Koridon, Toro and Sada's kid's friend will not let us study it, and Geta won't let us into area zero anymore.
Our best guess is that it was crossed with early heliolisk for a more relaxed pokemon that kept the explosive energy
Pawniard, Bisharp, and Kingambit in Pokécology (English version)
First is 2 Pawniard and a Bisharp battling a Fraxure over sharpening stones next to a river. While not stated here, I’m guessing that these disputes usually end with Fraxure being eaten by Pawniard and Bisharp since it is outnumbered.
Next is 2 different armies of Pawniard and Bisharp each led by a Kingambit clashing. Since it’s not explained either, I’m curious about how each side tells friend from foe when all individuals of the same stage look seemingly identical. Perhaps they distinguish by pheromones?
They mostly look identical because of the art style, and because you're not a bisharp.
If you had a team of only pawniard, you would learn to tell them apart. Scars, dents and chips make them easier to tell apart if they've been fighting tough battles, but even if it's not intuitive to you, each individual has some personal traits, same as humans.

Climate change probably scares me the most. It continues to get worse and it feels like we’re not doing enough to stop it. If you think you are a skilled enough Trainer to be able to handle having a Seviper and a Zangoose on the same team:
You are not. Do not even try.
If you think Zangoose's only enemy is Seviper and it will be all right with an Ekans on your team:
Stop.
Zangoose has a genetically-compelled hatred of serpentine Pokemon. Yes, Seviper especially, but the same way you instinctually fear a snake's shadow or a fall, a Zangoose's combatative nature towards snake Pokemon is a deep compulsion.
It is not impossible to train them to not fight, but it is impossible to ever make them get along. A Zangoose's strongest, most primal instinct is to fight Seviper, and any Pokemon that resembles it will be given the same treatment.
Likewise, is Seviper's hatred of zangoose causes them to freak out at any pokemon with a similar body plan. This is most notable in Purserker, although a pinch less dangerous due to the typings involved.
Do not try it. Just don't. If you need to have them both on your team, no you don't. If you encounter one in the wild and only have the other, try to avoid that battle.

Fine, I’ll bite. Battling can be inhumane, but it isn’t inherently cruel. Forcing a Pokémon to battle when it’s adverse to it and clearly stressed is wrong. Pit battles are wrong. Regulated battles are not. It’s literally no different than a sparring match. It’s good enrichment, good exercise, and a good way to bond with your Pokémon. Even wild Pokémon will have mock battles as a form of play. If anything it’s safer when they’re being commanded by Trainers than when they’re left to their own devices.
I have to disagree, the regulation battles are mock battles of the wild Ones.
Especially with more powerful pokemon like tyranatar and metagross, there is far less collateral damage in trainer battles, then wild ones, even with friendly sparring.
Some people are wild about battles man. I've got big rowdy team members and They're the ones who get grumpy when I make them wait to have a battle lmao. You look at my Obstagoon or Pangoro and tell me they aren't having the Best Time smacking each other around.
I think Team Plasma definitely had a part to play in the “battles are inherently cruel” argument. This opinion existed long before Team Plasma, but they definitely put the idea into some people’s heads. I see these arguments more and more, especially online. There’s definitely a wrong way to battle, but when done ethically and responsibly, it’s not at all cruel or abusive.
I have met some of these people irl, espesily if im training vyrate, but ive yet to hear a counter argument to "how did you move-train yours?" Most move training, either tutoring or obedince training, is a form of battling.
Vyrate, being a flapple, is a naturally aggressive pokemon and wants to battle anyway. If I don't take them out to spar, every once in a while, their two heads start fighting each other.
Luna and brushfire, however, shouldn't be battled at all. Luna because she lacks the bonus solar input to fuel her type energy demand, and brushfire because he produces entirely too much fire Type energy in the first place, producing even more is bad for his health.
Is the guts flame orb strategy really ok? It doesn't feel right... or maybe i don't know enough about competitive battling and I'm missing something ? But that just sounds cruel to me?
it's not inherently any worse than asking our pokemon to battle despite the risk of injury. battling is by definition going to mean that the pokemon involved are at risk of pain. and as long as it's done in moderation, with care to the pokemon's wants and needs, that's ok! it's a natural behavior for pokemon, and the vast majority of pokemon enjoy it as a form of exercise and play.
you have to remember that abilities don't just appear out of nowhere. they evolve alongside the pokemon to fit the needs of their environment. pokemon with the guts ability have it because the benefits it provides outweighs the inherent risks! pokemon that have this ability tend to be known for hardiness and resilience and are often found in places where they're likely to encounter status conditions.
what's really fascinating is that in the wild these pokemon appear to sometimes bait other pokemon into inflicting status moves on them! a study a couple of decades ago in mt. ember showed that machoke living near the volcano would actively provoke fire types into burning them, then leave the fight with the fire types to go train. these pokemon know how to use this strength to their advantage! so even if it sounds extreme or cruel, if you look at the evidence we have, there's no indication that the pokemon are distressed by it.
it's always good to ask these questions, though! if something seems off to you, there's a chance that instinct is right. in this case it's fine, but there are definitely some battle practices out there that don't fit that bill.

But frankly, even Nidoqueen and Nidoking are not genetically distinct enough to be considered separate species. Their level of sexual dimorphism is frankly not all that extreme.
Frankly, Volbeat and Illumise are more dimorphic than Nidoqueen and Nidoking, as evidenced by the extreme difference in their antenna, a primary sensory organ. And yet, yes, they also should not be regarded as separate species.

I have conflicting feelings on the nidoran debate. For the sake of scientific research, they should absolutely be considered the same species, same with illubeat. But from a battler perspective, they're different enough that it makes more sense to consider them different pokemon then different forms.
And then there is Paras, whose insect and mushroom parts have different sexes. And I am not paid to attempt to describe mushroom breeding types to people here.

like, if i were to have an eevee and evolve it into a leafeon, but the leafeon would have messed up leaves, is that something the eevee was already genetically fated to have, or something that occurred during the changes from evolution? is that example scenario different from other, more genetically stable pokemon?

i may not be a geneticist by trade, but i do have a pretty good understanding if it! plus my brother in law is a geneticist and loves answering my questions haha
there's two ways this happens. the first is that it's a problem with a gene that lies dormant until evolution. this is the most common sort of genetic disorder discovered after evolution, and it's more common with pokemon whose evolution results in more extreme changes (addition of body parts, new typing, change in locomotion, etc.). it's very hard to predict these without extensive (and expensive) genetic testing, so unfortunately they usually aren't found until after evolution. thankfully, if a post-evolutionary genetic issue is too extreme, the pokemon's body will often abort the evolution. in those cases, the problem is only discovered through testing.
the other way is less common and generally more concerning. sometimes, the energy and volatility of evolution results in sudden mutations during the process. because they're so spontaneous, the pokemon's body is much less likely to abort the process, leading to a greater risk of complications afterwards. eevee in particular love to do this, so there's a lot of information about spontaneous evolutionary mutation about them.
It is a lot more common in branching Evolutions or pokemon with differing forms though, sometimes trace genes from a regional variant eight or so generations can hit just wrong and trigger a problem.
Slowpoke in particular are very vulnerable to this, due to having both a regional variant and a split evolution.
Don't mega evolve a galarian slowbro please, we have not finished researching that. Same goes for any other regional variants of mega pokemon we discover. Let us figure out if it it's completely rewriting their DNA every time, please.
Part of what I do with my team of misfits is develop early warning systems. We're trying to find less expensive ways that can be added to the standardized test. (The one that gives you the nature, IVs, and EVs of your catches) I wish I could talk more about it.
What do you mean you have more pokemon than usual on your battling team? That is against the rules! I do not care how many times you talk about the arcana being the means by which all is revealed! Your gimmick is against league rules!
If someone is carrying fourteen Pokemon on their person, they should likely be investigated for hoarding behaviors.
It is different to handle a ranch or farm, where many Pokemon roam freely. If a Trainer is carrying and training Pokemon with them, there is good reason for the limit of six. A single traveling trainer with fourteen Pokemon, doing the Gym challenge, must necessarily be neglecting some of them. There is simply not enough time in the day for one person to give fourteen Pokemon the care they need.
I know this is unlikely, professor, but is it possible to find mimikyu with costumes of other pokemon other than Pikachu?
It is! Mimikyu choose their costumes based on the popularity of a specific pokemon and their personal preferences. Pikachu is just the most common option because it's one of the most popular and well-known pokemon.
I've seen a few different costumes (trainers who aren't aware of this tend think there's something wrong with their mimi if it changes costumes), although I think the weirdest one i've seen was a mimikyu that decided to become an alolamola. Why? Beyond me.
Most oftan, if it decides to change its costume, it'll become the regional electric rodent or certain small mythicals, like victini.
