I don't know if I should prereg for Anime Los Angeles in January 2022. Today's the last day before the $80 price hike. But January is still a little close to the pandemic and Delta Variant for my liking.
I was thinking of only going if I get into artist alley. But ALA artist alley is so notoriously hard to get into because it's so small and by lottery. By that standard, I may as well predict not attending right now.
But there could be some nice merch there from other artists. *_* Maybe I should go whether I get into artist alley or not? I had been wanting acrylic charms of my latest OTP... I don't have any Claude/Dimitri merch yet, and that is enough to tempt me into spending for the prereg. Or...I could skip the $70-$80 convention, and just buy artist alley art online, from the artists' online shops.
Spending $70, just to go shopping and probably spend $100-$200 on acrylic charms of my OTP...That's not really financially smart. And I really need to save my money right now. I have my own artist alley merch to make and outsourcing to pay for. Even the tables for ALA are $450!
Maybe I could feel better about that $70 prereg, if there was more to a con for me than shopping. I'm not a "guest of honor" person nor a community/social person. And I'm getting too physically tired for cosplaying and videography'ing cosplay gatherings. I love panels, but as the years go by, I'm more and more, too tired to walk from panel to panel. Especially ALA panels in different buildings that necessitate walking outside during the winter cold, often across stress, and in horrible cosplay shoes. I end up skipping panels, the longer a con wears on. So if I pretty much skip panels, then all there is for me is the shopping.
And should I really be spending $70 just to get inside, to spend $100-$200 on shopping? This isn't smart!
Maybe I should just go for one day or something...
Totally ignored the deadline and don't feel too bad about it. The con does not feel worth $80 if I feel too uncomfortable with cosplay gatherings, panels, and every other clustering of people. I think I will get just a one day pass. At least then, if I ditch at the last minute, in case the Delta variant gets worse, or I am just plain still too paranoid to go outside, I won't have lost a lot. Because $25-$30 for this con sounds about right to me. I just want to buy DMCL acrylic charms and merch of Claude von Riegan, that's all. ;~; (Though if I find that Furuya Joker noodle stopper figure that I had planned to get at AX2020 before this pandemic madness, then I'm snatching it up!)
