Guys I feel like hero/civi romance could never survive in a world where superheroes are a thing. Like picture this,
Imagine in the case where you're the hero yes? And you're dating a civilian. Heck even a fellow hero who doesn't know your identity.
I feel like it's gonna be prime angst fuel.
You and your Bae are out, and suddenly you have a hero emergency (as one does) so you need to go STAT.
Now like the loving s/o that they are they would want your safety to be a priority. But they're going around literally risking their lives looking for you, trying to bring you to them so you two can find safety together.
But you're out there doing your job as you're supposed to and once that's done you meet your s/o where it's safe. Great. No problem. None at all.
But this keeps happening and at first they'll feel like you have A+ self preservation instincts. This could be a veeeery slippery slope tho. After some time—you won't know when—I think they'll start seeing you as....selfish? Like you care only for your own well-being and don't give a damn if Godzilla's foot literally turned them into pureé since you're never there with them at the height of danger.
I feel like this would breed a lot of mixed feelings. Like on one hand, since they really and truly love you, they're glad you can protect yourself but on the other they're mad because they think you don't love them as much. Why? because you're only found when the crisis is averted. And they're not finding that very cute.
Bonus points if you can absolutely—under no circumstances—cannot reveal your secret identity.
The angst is topnotch 😩🤌 Please someone write something with this scenario and my life is yours (please tag me fren 😭🙏)
