Day 1: Capture Your Grief Project: Sunrise A sunrise. To many, a sunrise just simply starts a day. You rise to the sound of an alarm clock buzzing and get ready to start a new day. The coffee brews, the shower starts and it is off to work you go. But what if you started your day realizing that a sunrise was more than that? Take a moment to think about a sunrise. It welcomes light to illuminate a sleeping sky. Rays of sunlight start to spotlight all around you. Colors get brighter, and make the Earth comes alive. A sunrise starts a new day, but it also welcomes new opportunities and adventures. A sunrise is beautiful, peering through trees, over a mountain or emerging from an ocean landscape like a phoenix come back to life. A sunrise promotes the promise of not only a new day but of new experiences. New chances. New interactions. I have always had this draw pulling me to drive somewhere remote during the early hours of a morning. Once I met my destination, I would sit patiently to meet the sun lit sky. I envision the experience like meeting someone new for the first time. It is intimate, only me and the sun gazing at one another. I would wait, camera in hand and anticipate that perfect moment when we are within view of eachother. I would close my eyes as the sun lit my face and allow the colors to gently kiss my skin. At that moment I would capture the sun in the most purest and honest form.
