I can’t possibly be the only one horribly demoralised by a lot of writing advice, right? Like “Turn off your inner critic.” That’s... that’s a thing people can do? And even if I do that and come back to re-edit a manuscript later, I’m just going to rip the whole thing to shreds and start over, right? Or “Live your life and write from your experiences.” I live in bumfuck nowhere THERE IS NOTHING TO “LIVE.” And I sure as hell know no one is gonna want to read the adventures of Lonely McAntisocial as they endlessly waste time. Or hell, the whole “Gotta network/Use Social Media/Put yourself out there to build a reader base!” How?? Who?? What do I do? What even is networking??? Like I’m sure I could join a writing forum but then what? There’s nothing I want out of them except criticism, and ngl I don’t even read usernames on posts. Y’all are just 4Chan anons to me. So if I don’t network through that what else? I haven’t even worked out how people keep posting stuff on twitter yet, let alone a real piece of social media. Do I just send random people messages? Bug the fuck out of professionals? WHAT DO I DO!? So yeah if anyone can help me puzzle out wtf is gong on that’d be great.
