I actually really like how Amari's promise has Yui and Lala who are very related to Amari's character development, while Mario's has Garuru who is more related to his own journey, berry sneaky.

He did not intend to be cruel. Never cruel to... well, this young man looked like a newly-sashed Ranger, at least in age. His uniform however showed signs of incredible wear. Deep wilderness assignment, most likely. But he had not been in any recent initiation. Saeradan would remember.

Cared for the finish and didn't polish it to an unstealthy gleam. A Ranger would know to do that. As for the unsteady sewing, well...

And the way he looked at him-- whoever this Amarion was, he'd approached with sword sheathed. Weapons tucked away. Hand empty. If this young man was half the Ranger he looked, he would never approach a stranger that way.

It struck him at last. A hundred little observations, a twist in his gut. He didn't now this Amarion, but Amarion was practically throwing his life and fate into his hands. The way a lost child trusts a guard in arms. Body and soul, he was certain Saeradan would take care of him.
