Imagine that Altaean waking up and Allura being there ready to help him as she assumes that he has been placed in that mech against his will only to have him realise who she is and then look at her with great hostility and hatred.

Then he tells her that he chose to do this of his own free will, that it was a great honour to be deemed worthy of and that his task was to defeat them and he is greatly disappointed that he failed to avenge Lotor's death.

The paladins then learn that Honerva took the colonists away and believing that she has manipulated them the paladins and Romelle take the Altaean back to the colony so that Romelle can tell them about what she discovered about Lotor and the second colony and to defeat Honerva. However when they reach the colony they learn that not only do the Altaeans now know about the second colony they actually know the whole story and it is very different than what Romelle, Keith and Krolia assumed it to be.

The Altaeans blame the paladins for Lotor's death and see Romelle as a traitor and question the paladins actions at the end of season 6 and point out that all the death and destruction that has happened in the last few years wouldn't have happened had they chosen to hear Lotor out. Imagine all of this coming from Honerva, who has not manipulated them, only told them the truth. Also, the Altaeans, for their own safety have not entered the war as they do not have any army to protect themselves with and the mech or mechs are new and they do not want to lose any more of their people to this war.

Imagine Lotor returning and the Altaeans being overjoyed and protective of him when he sees the paladins again. Imagine him trying to convince them to to trust the paladins which they do very reluctantly but they let then know that they don't trust them and if any of them make any move to harm Lotor then they will kill them.

Alfor was a good man but he wasn't a great king, did he have the potential and did he demonstrate it? Yes, his alliance with the original paladins was a great move as it brought peace and stability to the universe A+, 10/10. However his actions later in life do demonstrate his weaknesses which ultimately led him to the terrible decisions he made after Zarkon declared war on the universe.

Being a good person doesn't necessarily mean that you will be a good or great leader and Alfor clearly demonstrates this idea. It would have been incredibly difficult and perhaps even the hardest thing he would ever have to do but Alfor should have put his people first and tried to kill Zarkon. Instead ge chose to reason with him, to convince him to stop, even after he continuously demonstrated and reinforced the fact that he was serious and that nothing would deter him from his desire for revenge. Alfor chose diplomacy and reason when he knew that there was little chance of success and this wrong choice doomed his people to near genocide and the rest of the universe to chaos and destruction for the next 10 000 years.

Those Altaeans that were off planet at the time suffered as they had to go into hiding as soon as they heard about Altaea's destruction and come season 8 I think this will be a sore point for their descendants. Their ancestors were always hiding, always looking over their shoulders in fear that they were going to be discovered. Their children, who may not have mastered their ability to shapeshift at all or for long periods of time would have become an extra worry for their family as how do you convince a child to constantly disguise themselves, day after day, knowing that it may be difficult for them to maintain and master that kind of control over their own bodies?

Voltron today: Used to attack and hurt the only person who has been able to protect them and who gave them a life where they didn't have to be constantly looking over their shoulders.

Are they eating food goo? The Galra ships would have some but would that be enough for over 3 years? Also while it's packed with nutrients I don't think food goo should be eaten long term, the Altaeans have been through enough, just let them have some decent food.

Are they doing supply runs back to the colony who know what their plans are on Oriande and are happy to provide them with food and whatever else they need.

An alliance between the Galra and Altaeans could be incredibly beneficial to both races.

The Galra, a warrior race who has known norhing but conflict and expansion for the last 10 000 years would be able to learn how to exist and live peacefully from the Altaeans who, due to their seclusion have lived peaceful, conflict free lives for generations.
