The theory that the Altaean colony and Honerva are working together to create the mech that we saw at the end of season 7 is my favourite Voltron theory.
Imagine that Altaean waking up and Allura being there ready to help him as she assumes that he has been placed in that mech against his will only to have him realise who she is and then look at her with great hostility and hatred.
Then he tells her that he chose to do this of his own free will, that it was a great honour to be deemed worthy of and that his task was to defeat them and he is greatly disappointed that he failed to avenge Lotor's death.
The paladins then learn that Honerva took the colonists away and believing that she has manipulated them the paladins and Romelle take the Altaean back to the colony so that Romelle can tell them about what she discovered about Lotor and the second colony and to defeat Honerva. However when they reach the colony they learn that not only do the Altaeans now know about the second colony they actually know the whole story and it is very different than what Romelle, Keith and Krolia assumed it to be.
The Altaeans blame the paladins for Lotor's death and see Romelle as a traitor and question the paladins actions at the end of season 6 and point out that all the death and destruction that has happened in the last few years wouldn't have happened had they chosen to hear Lotor out. Imagine all of this coming from Honerva, who has not manipulated them, only told them the truth. Also, the Altaeans, for their own safety have not entered the war as they do not have any army to protect themselves with and the mech or mechs are new and they do not want to lose any more of their people to this war.
Imagine Lotor returning and the Altaeans being overjoyed and protective of him when he sees the paladins again. Imagine him trying to convince them to to trust the paladins which they do very reluctantly but they let then know that they don't trust them and if any of them make any move to harm Lotor then they will kill them.
Imagine the paladins being seen as the enemy not by the Galra but by Altaeans and how it will force them to confront and question themselves, their views and their actions in a way that they have never been made to before.

Altaea fights demons that started appearing from a portal in her broom closet. Khaime is her childhood friend and bf who became a celebrity singer after entering the music industry. He’s very desperately trying to juggle stardom and helping his gf fight monsters.

Altaean Colony and Leadership
I think when that when season 8 drops we will see a dramatic and unexpected change of authority and leadership in season 8, especially in regards to the colony.
Allura and Coran are, for the first time in their lives going to have no authority when it comes to their people and it is going to be quite a shock for them. In Old Altaea they were born into these positions of power and inherited these rights from their family and therefore never had to work for the respect, trust and authority needed for such roles. However, this world, this Altaea is gone and they will have to adjust and prove themselves, especially if they want to have some position of leadership.
This new reality will be especially shocking ti them when they see that Lotor and possibly even Honerva make up the new royal family and dynasty of New Altaea. These modern Altaeans have a ruler (Lotor) and he has proven himself to be their leader not because of his bloodline but because of his actions and more specifically his ability to protect them. Honerva may also have proven herself worthy of their respect through her work within the colony, especially if she has healed all those at the facility. They represent a shift and change in what it takes to be a leader and what the New Altaeans want in their leaders. Because the old ways i.e. inheriting by blood and birthright may have died when Altaea was destroyed. The New Altaeans won't recognise Allura and Coran's authority and titles and they, for the first time in their lives, will have to earn their place in their society.
This will be especially interesting given that Lotor, a man who has spent his entire life proving himself will have the unconditional support and trust of the Altaean people whereas Allura, a woman raised with the belief and expectation that she would one day rule her people due to her bloodline now has to prove herself to her own people.
I think Allura will definitely prove herself as a worthy leader, not because of her birthright but because of her actions and it will be very interesting to see how she does it. She will have to earn the title of princess back and when she does it will mean so much more to her than it ever has before.
Voltron 10 000 years ago: Alfor created it to protect the universe but when his people needed its protection he chose to scatter it across the universe resulting in the destruction of his planet and most of his people leaving the survivors to live in fear for years.
Voltron today: Used to attack and hurt the only person who has been able to protect them and who gave them a life where they didn't have to be constantly looking over their shoulders.
Voltron has failed Altaea and it's people and the surviving Altaeans have never forgotten this fact and would prefer that Voltron had never existed. That is why there is an Altaean inside the new mech, because they believe that the only way to save and protect themselves is to destroy Voltron.
